On the days we made this trip there was a huge hot rod/classic car meet on both sides of the Strait. Many of them were on the ferry there and back. I was tempted to join the convoy with our classic Tercel and wave out the windows like we were part of it.

Salt Creek is a County Recreation Area (sometimes called Tongue Point). It's less than an hour's drive West of Port Angeles. It's basically straight across the Strait of Juan de Fuca from Sooke.
