Re: Hello and help

A little update... I ran the car a bit yesterday and adjusted the idle and throttle positioner, it was still putting out smoke, especially when reved and turned my new plugs black. I realized that I'm currently just above where the HAC activates and that I didn't have the vac hose for that hooked up...

Re: Died on HWY, No Spark

You might be able to get the coil out with it in the car but it'd be a lot easier with it out... or with the hood off. There are 2 7mm nuts that hold the wires on inside and 4 phillips/flathead screws on the top, two inside the cap and two outside by the valve cover. It doesn't take long to reset th...

Re: O2 sensor voltage at idle? 3ac tuned for smog check

.9V is the diatonic ratio, 14.5:1 air:fuel mixture. lower voltage means lean, higher voltage means rich. No, the chemically perfect air/gasoline ratio is 14.7/1 and a correctly functioning o2 sensor will read the results of it's combustion in a healthy 4 stroke gas engine as 450 millivolts (.45V). ...

Re: Hello and help

I went through the tests in the FSM and the distributor tests out but if I pull a wire off of one of the plugs and hold it near the valve cover it won't jump any gap so I'm still thinking its weak spark. I did find corrosion on the contact on top of the coil going to the cap that I cleaned up as wel...

Re: Hello and help

Thank you for the insight, I have the idle set to around 900-1000 but when it idles low it gets real low, I think I hit 400 this morning. It does seem like a vac leak and I'll be sure to check the shaft and spray some cleaner around elsewhere to see if I can find anything else, I'm pretty sure the h...

Re: Any leads on window glass?

if you are going to install it yourself this might help... when you removed your windshield you may have noticed two black rubber blocks embedded in the urethane below the bottom edge of the glass maybe 8" or 10" in on either side on top of those raised spots on the cowl. If your windshiel...

Re: Any leads on window glass?

pantah, do you mean the seal? I used this urethane sealant: https://goo.gl/wQhdNS Apparently it is recommended that you use primer on the glass even with 'primerless' sealant if the windshield doesn't have the black edge frit, both for adhesion and to protect the urethane from UV rays. If you mean t...

Re: Any leads on window glass?

I called every glass shop in the greater Olympia area and was unable to find a new windshield this winter, a few said they could get it but then backed out when they actually checked their supply chain. I cut one out of a junkyard car.

Re: I need doors and a sunroof!!

Here are a couple photos of the windshield repair I did, I didn't take any before photos but the cowl was pretty rusty, no holes as big as the one up above ^^ but there were a lot of holes and it was getting into the seams. The channel around the windshield had 4 rusty patches, only one hole but not...

Re: I need doors and a sunroof!!

Oh one more thing, if you decide to use por or rust bullet, they tend to cure within days or weeks of being opened and exposed to the air (depending on humidity and temp), and folks sometimes have trouble with gluing the lid on the paint cans (its really tough stuff). What I did was either was to po...

Re: I need doors and a sunroof!!

Another trick to using any rust paint or converter is to clean up and coat the backside of the repair as well as you can, any tiny little pin hole through the metal will cause it to rust out from the back eventually. I poured POR (pored POUR?) into the curved bottom edge of my back passenger door wh...

Re: I need doors and a sunroof!!

POR15 and Rust Bullet are great products. Some call them liquid powder coat. When I did #1's windshield frame, I didn't like the topcoat. A wire wheel on a drill stripped the topcoat, but only polished the "paint over rust" product. Agreed, I used both this winter to clean up a bunch of r...

Re: gearing

By front hub assembly do you mean the front differential housing? You can separate the front diff/bellhousing part of the transmission and put it on the transmission in your car now as long as the gears weren't damaged when the transmission blew up, but you need to pull the transmission. I don't kno...

Re: 1983 Owners and Repair Manual

I'd be interested, my car is an 83 and it'd be great to have access to that. I know there are subtle differences in the manuals and the wiring diagrams and colors may be different. I found an fsm for an 84 that is a little different than the 85 one on here and has photos instead of illustrations in ...
