Re: Soon to be 4WD Tercel owner.
Seriously true to form, the Tercel is becoming a true project car. For the last few weeks I've been putting these together in my free time:

Re: Why are the Tercel valves adjusted hot?
I would not recommend thinking that the clearence that you would measure when cold after a hot adjustment would be an accurate way to do it for future jobs. Over time engine parts wear and since it recommended that the valves be checked every 12k miles (who really does that) you can bet that the cl...

Re: How many miles do you average per tank?
It really depends on your MPG, I can usually get around 275 miles when the light comes on at ~32 mpg. Technically the tank is 11 gallons, but I've only managed to pull 10 out of it before it starts to sputter a bit on cornering.

Re: Headlight Upgrades...TURTCEL
In reality those H4 lights haven't really been changed since they were designed back in the 70's, so you should really only be paying for materials and manufacturing... Hella tends to be overpriced, but they do make good stuff. I wish I had known about the AutoPal lights before I bought the Hellas f...

Re: Headlight Upgrades...TURTCEL
As an advocate of good lighting, I've got a set of Hella H4's on my Tercel with fatty (12 AWG) wire pushing the juice. The Hella kit is good, but the AutoPal lights you can get on Ebay are every bit as good at half the price. If you're worried about heat melting the wire, get TXL from Waytek and don...

Re: Is Anyone Interested to Discussing Student Loans??
Having gone through college on a fair number of student loans due to my circumstances (parents make too much money to get pity money but couldn't help that much, scholarships are looking for non-white male demographics) I'm glad that it was easy to get loans... However, I went to school in Mechanica...

I've already arranged the extra that I had made with Nick. I'm currently in Germany on exchange and won't be back until Christmas. At that point I can look at having more made if I have enough interest.

Engine friction also has a large part to play in efficiency, which is the primary reason for dropping engine RPM with an overdrive gear.

Re: Improve fuel economy with foils attached to car
Actually, cars that have poor aerodynamics will see more significant improvements from small changes than a car that is already aerodynamic. It's like fuel economy, going from 10 to 13 mpg is a much much larger improvement than going from 40 to 43 mpg.

It's WAY easier to loosen the gland nut with the strut in the car, you can get a large pair of channel locks through the spring coils pretty easy...

Re: alternator dead?
Bad wiring can be a killer to the charging system... My dad went through 3 alternators and 2 batteries on his old Talon before he found a loose ground strap that cured the whole problem.
