Re: 1983 Tercel won't fire up
had a similar problem with my first tercel wagon shortly after i bought it (back in '94.) engine was down on power, so i checked the timing. could ALMOST get it right by turning the dist to the stop so i pulled the dizzy, moved it one tooth and checked it again- could ALMOST get it right, but not qu...

yep- it's got the shifter button, dash display, and trunk badging. never seen a corolla all-trac sedan, but i know toyota made camry all-trac sedans- so i'd say it's real.

Re: Problems turning
i've had good results using wd40 (it's thin enough to penetrate the joint caps) followed up with a shot of kleer lube (thick enough to hang around for awhile- it's kind of like snot in a can.) as a preventative measure, i give my steering joints a shot of kleer lube at every oil change. never much c...

+ 1 arch- if the first digit of the VIN is J- the vehicle's made in japan. to my knoledge, ALL t4wds were made in japan (i have one with a production date of jan/88 that was.)

Re: another rough starting thread
+1 on the AAP diaph- just disconnect the vac hose from it and plug off both connections. if problem goes away, you have your answer! i've found it's cheaper to buy the complete carb kit after market (got my last one from Rock Auto) than to buy the diaph alone from the dealer. good luck!

Re: canadian vs. US stock roof racks
figgered i'd chime on this one. i've had 4 t4wd's with roof racks. two with short racks ('83and '84) and two with long racks ('85 and '88.) all were US versions, so i think rack style has more to do with production date than market. not sure, but "dealer installed option?" i agree with arc...
