Re: control cable lubrication

@ The Professor... HA! We used one of those in my bicycle store (1973-03). Do/did you work in a shop? Tom Nope, I hide behind a desk writing recalls, service bulletins and operator's/service manuals. I only know about this tool because it's the style we recommended for lubing heater control cables!...

I just lubed the temperature control cable last night using this fancy (and cheap!) little tool. Now to tackle the door control cables...

And run it with the ATF for the length of the trans oil change interval? Have you been running this cocktail and for how long?

Re: unhappy with 80w-90 gear oil

I finished swapping out the gear oil in my Tercel's transmission and rear axle with 80w/90. The old oil looked to be in pretty good condition, it was a dark amber and didn't smell as awful as black, ancient gear oil. Ditto on the rear axle. Before, the trans would shift OK, but would nip the gears a...

Great! I'll have to look into that kit! Has anybody put together a walkthrough on the u-joint replacement?

Re: Steering momentarily locked-up, mid-turn

I liberally sprayed down the U-joint and the steering hasn't locked up again, but I can hear a faint clunking while turning the wheel past a certain point in either direction. I looked for a replacement and found about three different options from $50 on up to well over $100. Is there any difference...

Are Front Brake Rotors Identical U.S. vs. E.U.?

RockAuto has Brembo brand rotors for our cars, but list them under the E.U. flag. Does anyone know if these parts are interchangeable between continents?

Thanks!

Where are you located? I think I'll go for the two front seat belts, assuming they are in nice condition. Pics of the parts?

I had totally forgotten about this Thread. I actually have a T4 now, so I think I'll be keeping these parts, lol.

Steering momentarily locked-up, mid-turn

Just like the title says, this happened twice recently. I was going around a corner and when I went to unwind the steering wheel, there was some unnatural resistance, then the steering felt like it released and went back to normal. The car is an '87 4WD with power steering and about 186k miles. I'm ...

Not any more. They will often "brine" the interstates around here when it is cold enough to frost over the overpasses and bridges. I don't think they use granulated salt yet, but they definatly brine these days.
