Re: Verdict on AE86 & AE82 Springs
SuperPro carries bushings for both the front and rear anti-roll bars on AL25s. I'm assuming this is the site. Very nice parts, I am for sure going to try the 4-link bushings they're selling as mine are shot. Thanks for pointing this out, never heard of SuperPro. No problem! I like to use urethane b...

Re: The Definitive List of Ways to Lift a Tercel 4wd
One thing I found out about on mine recently, after replacing the original driveshaft center bearing, is that lifting the rear a bunch causes the flanges between the front driveshaft and the rear diff to mis-align be ~2 degrees. This doesn't sound like much, but the extra stiffness of a fresh cente...

Re: The Definitive List of Ways to Lift a Tercel 4wd
Speculation based on experience and career choice. I'm more worried about CV angles, to be frank. Also, most people don't put much mileage on, or own these cars for very long, so you're not going to have accurate reporting of long term trans/CV wear on HEAVILY off-roaded, lifted Tercels. Hell, once ...

Re: The Definitive List of Ways to Lift a Tercel 4wd
The engine and transmission should be spaced out from the body as an assembly. Using spacers on both crossmembers also preserves the original engine/transmission inclination angle, which is important for splash-lubricated components like our rare-as-hens-teeth transmissions. There are lots of good r...

WTB: Working Cold Mixture Heater (CMH, carb base heater)
None of the ones I have pass the FSM test of 0.5-2.0 ohms at 68*F.
Looking for one that will pass the FSM test. Let me know what you've got.
Thanks!

Re: Electric Water Pump Conversion
What I find a bit puzzling is that the power needed to drive these pumps will be drawn effectively from the alternator, which means that more power is needed to drive the alternator. so you go from a mechanically belt driven pump, to a electrically driven pump that draw power from a mechanically be...

Re: Orientation of the lower control arm bushing?
There are two possibilities: 1) The Toyota engineers used an off-the-shelf bushing for the lower control arm location. 2) This bushing was specifically designed for this location on this application. In either case, I believe the rubber collar was oriented that way for a reason (though we may not kn...

I was up there on Saturday. Engine is gone, inclinometer is gone, but the transmission is till there. I honestly didn't poke around the car very much since I was on a bit of a mission.

Re: Leaking water pump; can it make it one more day?
It all depends on how quickly it's loosing coolant. If the coolant loss is slow, you carry around 6+ gallons of water, and watch your temp gauge religiously, you can very reasonably drive two well-spaced 15 mile legs. (This assumes your gauge and sender can be trusted...) Top off the system before y...

Re: Tercel back on the road
...Has anyone else noticed the issue with CV axles when you complete a lift and there's some noise coming from them when they run at a new angle? This would be expected with a high-mileage wear item that has recently been asked to operate in a range of motion that it has never seen before. I've men...

Re: Anyone interested in an Euro Front End?
Not entirely sure how shipping would work, but it shouldn’t be too hard. Was thinking around $160 plus shipping (both headlights, indicators, grille and bumper) - does that seem resonable? [rant] BUYER BEWARE! After two years of patiently trying to buy these parts, it's time to cut my losses. After...
