Re: What breaks on a Tercel?
I've seen once but not a tercel! And we where beating the shit out af that cavalier, doin jumps and stuff! But it blew cause of the ball joint that poped out and the cv followed staying on the wheel but out the trans and pretty much ripped the whole control arm apart bending it, the cv was still goo...

Re: 1980 Toyota Tercel Coupe $1200 (Calgary, AB)
Well it does look healthy, at that price I'd say it's a good buy if runs as good as it looks! Rare piece that's for sure, I don't see any on the road but mine, maybe in victoria cause when I lived there the last time about 5 years ago there was 2 brown that I know of was drivin around 1 was mine( so...

Yeah, I would not mind one of those! Been watchin it for a while! A new RWD woot woot! But I hate the fact they used a subaru engine! Shame, if I buy one wich is in my mind, I think I'm gonna take all the mechanics out and sell it and put a Toyota engine in it!

Re: What breaks on a Tercel?
A set of control arm with good ball joints and maybe tie rods, also some sway bar end link bushes ! A spare CV joint would not hurt! And a couple of spare wheels! Good basic tool box, jack and few specialty tools optional(ball joint separator, the big socket for the CV), brake fluid! That should be ...

Re: 87 tercel 1.5 12 valve with strange starting problem
For your starter issue it sound like a bad wire! Maybe vers de gris in the big main wire that leads to starter, slice it a bit and look if some white powdery stuff is in it, if so replace! Not sure about the watery noise! But for the engine stalling when pressing gas, try to unplug the electric wire...

Re: The starting point for a new life!
The clutch as finally arrived! Beautiful piece! clutcharrived.jpg Was supposed to end up with a 6 puck version of the disc, as the manufacturer e-mailed me saying it was to small to make a 4 puck! To my ear it didn't made any sense, as for the proof I did end up with my 4 puck, yeah! I'll have my en...

If you talking about that green thing! Mine the nipples broke into the lines, when I went to part store couldn't find any replacement so I put a one way valve and haven't seen any difference really!

Re: convert auto trans to manual?
I've read thru the thread it's nicely done! Looks like what I've expected, straight forward, I did it on other vehicles before, so do have a good background on the subject! But always like to do some research before! That thread is all you need to know!

Re: MOTOR FOR MY 4WD WAGON?????
Hey David, what do you recommend for online stores north of the border. They want $120 + tax for a clutch cable at Nelson Toyota! I was a dummy and just paid over $40 for an OE thermostat...gulp. Leave the dealership alone! There usually way out there in pricing! I go to NAPA and Lordco and am pret...

Re: how to set choke?
I've installed a manual on a auto choke before! Was on a chevy but had thet same 3 bolt clamp and circle plastic box! I can ask where my friend got the adapter, I've only installed it! Looked very universal to my eyes! Technically once you take the cap off and remove everything, there is a little pi...

Re: MOTOR FOR MY 4WD WAGON?????
I would only try by changing your valve stem oil seal! Sounds like my engine when I pop a seal! It's fairly quick to do it! I would use a 3-4 foot long nylon rope and stuff into the cylinder by the spark plug hole! To do so you need your engine at TDC and turn counter clockwise a 1/4 turn to be at t...

Re: convert auto trans to manual?
I'm gonna be on the process of doin this within a couple of weeks! Waiting for my clutch! Looks pretty straight forward, the neutral swicth is pretty easy to rig if you absolutely want it! Make sure you got all the parts of the donor car! Maybe some hole to drill to fit the pedal but dunno yet! I'll...
