I was definitely surprised/pleased with the numbers. I have no idea on the history of this 200k engine, other than it got it's oil changes. Maybe the head got shaved for a new gasket?

I'll have to check the 84 next time I screw plugs in.

Thanks again Mickey_D! It also gave me almost a year of service too. A death wobble started about 3 weeks ago, and got worse fast, that wasn't tires or front end parts. That and the pressure from the wife to thin the herd got me off my butt and the 85 behind it running. That 200k engine is in excell...

The only way to get a joint 100% clean is to dissassemble it. However, as I learned in my years of high volume/low dollar repair. If you reboot before or just after a rupture and there is no contamination you can just wipe off as much as you can. Then shoot the new grease thru the center hole until ...

No quarter glass, just windshield. She is completely stripped. Could be almost 100 lbs lost to rust! That was it's end.

Ah, the simple things....

Two back to back jobs has shown me that replacing 2 heater hose pipes on a 98 cadillac deville takes just as long as a motor swap on a terc. Also, very crappy quality compared to the heater hose pipes on our tercs. Pop can thickness compared to toyota pipes. The engine swap was almost pleasurable af...

If the rust isn't too bad and everything else is good to go, I'd say not too out of line. Not rotten ones are rare in these parts. Even rotten ones don't show up very often. Either wait, possibly for years for a deal, or factor how much time and money a trip cross country would be. $1200 on car coul...

Make one out of steel tubing. Steel tube is fairly cheap and readily available.

Sounds like tercel heaven! In our almost 10 years of ownership we have only had 3 terc encounters while out and about. I've even doubled the chances by having two on the road for the past year. The wife's was kinda funny. A few years ago a guy drove like a madman just to catch up for a wave and a sm...

(which is rubber BTW, not leather which has not been used in carbs in over 50 years). Sorry to be a nitpicker but almost all the O.E. accelerator pumps I have encountered have been leather. Even got lucky with the napa carb kit I just got for my landcruiser. Very rare to get a leather replacement. ...

A real quick check of the fan and power to it is to pull the fan switch connector at the bottom of the rad with ignition on. Fan should come on. If not and it's an 84 or 83 you might be due for a new fan. The earlier ones are a little different design and might be prone to seizing like mine did 4 ye...

On my webbered 86 I have a holley low pressure reg(1-4 psi)with a gauge mounted to it. I can bottom the screw out and still only hit 3 psi max. I would still verify your pressure if you decide to go without a reg. Viton tipped needle is always a better choice in my book. Both mine will be getting on...

I got my last kit at racetep.com. Just contact them and they will substitute a short element. I would imagine other suppliers may do the same.

I believe most people's operating conditions warrant severe schedule. I have seen long interval results on internals and could always tell instantly by the rancid smell if they were overdue at drain time. I would NEVER go by an oil life index or change oil now indicator. Those ones always smell barb...

Try checking power and ground at the 1st fuel cut solenoid on the carb. If that's ok, with key on, unplug and plug it and you should hear a click.

Just had to fix a bad ground on my 83 FJ60's solenoid. If it isn't working there won't be any fuel at both idle and off idle.
