Re: T4WD. Spotted in haiti
I don’t think that’s a Terc, maybe a 4 Runner. The back side window isn’t shaped like the Terc. Hopefully I’m wrong. It’s great to spot them all around the world.

Re: Larry's 49 Chevy gets a 500 hp LS3
I plan on using the whole front suspension from the Supra, the part on the Tercel wher the front control arms bolt on are just spot welded on to the frame rails so once I remove them I can use the Supra cross member which has the control arms attached to it, granted there is going to be some massagi...

Re: 1983 4wd SR5 Wagon in Durango Colorado
As dependable as these cars are, I always carry some things that could fail on long trips, cars don’t have to be old to have parts quit working, anything mechanical can and will stop working at some point, and like Petro says, I carry a little tool pack with me under the front seat. When my wife and...

Re: Larry's 49 Chevy gets a 500 hp LS3
My plans are to put a ‘96 LS 400 engine im my 1983 Tercel 4wd I bought from Texas, it won’t be 4WD anymore, just RWD. I bought a smasshed LS 400 and a smashed never winter driven California ‘84 Supra for the transmission and rear differential. Should be quite a little sleeper, leaving it all complet...

Re: The Tercel standard
My father had a 1974 Vega and he drove that thing over a hundred thousand miles and he was never one to change oil in anything,I don’t know where I get so anal about oil changes but I faithfully change my oil in all my mowers blowers and cars likely more than I should, but I figure it’s cheap insura...

Re: 1983 4wd SR5 Wagon in Durango Colorado
My 84 SR5 doesn’t have PS and my 83 SR5 that I bought from Texas doesn’t have it either. Personally I like the non power steering better.

Re: The Tercel standard
Cars today should be all called “Bic” on the trunk lid, because soon as the gas tank runs dry ya throw them in the ditch. I woouldn’t take 10 brand new cars for my ‘84 SR5 Tercel which now has 865,000 kms. I have been driving it for 26 years now and it works ever bit as good if not better then it di...

Haha Jim! We don't call it "Hoarding" It's called "Parts in My Inventory" Yup! I always grab them if they show up locally (I even bought a set I found in the Portland Pick-n-pull, that I stop at just to take a look, on my drive from CA back home to WA, they had three T4wd! treasu...

Re: Troubles after carburetor rebuild
If you have your timing set at 10 degrees you can plug the vaccum lines, you don't need them and it will work away better, use premium gas not low octane fuel and that should eliminate your diesling problem as well.

Re: Burning oil.
They are called a 3as. It is suppose to be a Swirl Valve Head that they claim makes better fuel mileage and power, I don't see how it could make more power by blocking off the tiny little ports these motors have, the last Terc I bought last year for parts had one of these motors in it, I don't know ...

Re: Banging noise when braking
Are you sure you have 4WD Brake shoes and drums and not 2WD Wagon shoes and drums. They will go on but the backing plates are not the same where the hold down pins go through. If you look on the inside of the drums the 4WD says max. dia. 301 mm and the 2WD say max. dia. 291 mm if my memory serves me...

Re: VIN Numbers on all the windows
Ace is correct, it's an identifcation number incase of theft. My '83 Tercel 4WD SR-5 that I bought from Texas has it etched in all the glass.
