if your refering to the levers in the dashboard
after replacing levers put some drops of oil on the water control valve under the hood by the firewall on passenger side
and work that arm back and forth to free it up
that may have been what caused your problem

Quiet Knocking at start
I just installed a salvaged engine and when i started the car the engine was making a quiet knock for about 20 seconds that i attributed to oil builing up pressure in an engine that had not ran for two years. But it does it every time when the engine is cold and lasts about 20 seconds. The only time...

Quote "Question: if the battery is dead, can the car still run? I know some cars can run w/out a battery.
yes you can run without battery
the pos terminal cable end needs to be wrapped
as it will have some juice to it and will spark if it touches metal

Towed a 1983 or '84 (have not checked yet) SR5 home monday. Switched the engine today. Hope to have it running next week. It's light blue with an almost perfect body (has been indoors for 7 years). Windshield is not cracked. Manual steering. Inclinometer. Ceiling fabric is pretty clean. Alloy rims w...

Re: Dropping the trans...pointers?
you do not have to remove input shaft
but if you do it will be easier
sometimes it does not come out easily
definately easier to reinstall tranny with it removed

Re: nasty knocking
probably caused by the eze-start
should use gas instead
i just hauled home a tercel that was started with some kind of starter fluid
and it caused it to knock
most likely a cracked piston
seems like others have warned about this on this site

Re: Do I need to rebuild?
i 'd start by pulling the spark plugs and looking at the ends to see if one plug looks different from the others. then look in the spark plug hole after rotating the crank till the piston is visible to check for differences. get a book that has pictures of various used spark plug ends (or use the in...
