welcome to the list! 2wd wheels will bolt right up, but as i recall, are 1/2" narrower than 4wd wheels. also, std tire size on 2wd was 155/13 as opposed to 175/70 13 on 4wd. actually, a narrower tire will work better in the snow- get 'em!

i'd say your tercel buddy is right- check where the wires go from the body to the hatch. i've had 'em go bad on more thah one occasion. he's also right about having extra strands making 'em more flexible. rather than trying to splice cheapo wire in at the flex point, i cut the broken wire on the bod...

Tim- square end goes on the blower motor (opposite the blower motor plug) round end goes on nipple facing downwards on heater box. maybe someone installed after-market blower motor with no provision for cooling hose?? as for the rear wiper operation, if fuses and motor check ok- could be broken wire...

chevy 4.3 is a v6 (not that it really matters- still wouldn't do it!)

bad plugs won't cause a no crank condition, my '85 (usa fed version) has no clutch switch. my money's on a bad starter. good luck!
