Re: '85 parts for sale
I need the wiring harness side connectors for the transmission wiring (backup light, 4wd indicator, and EL indicator). Any chance you could cut this section of the harness for me so I can splice it back into my car?

Re: Transmission wiring?
So, I went did Petros' test to see if my front and rear were mismatched - got about 9 revolutions on the rear for 10 on the front - not a surprise since with only 100k miles it was on its second transmission and second engine. The engine had a bad rod knock and is currently being replaced by a built...

Re: '85 T4WD DLX at Pick-n-Pull yard, Antelope, CA
This one had a hit to the rear PS corner - not big, but possibly why it got scrapped. Unfortunately, it was an auto trans. I grabbed a few parts i needed, but my this pick n pull is really strict on parts pricing - for the distributor they tried to charge me for a "complete" distributor, a...

Re: Transmission wiring?
Yeah, I just did some searching and found that same info. So it looks like I have an early trans in my 85. Unfortunately I never drove it in 4wd before I pulled the engine for a rebuild, so I don't know if the rear-end was swapped as well. Still, for the other wires, does anyone know which color wir...

New Axels - Hard to Spin Wheels
So, I just got my new EMPI axels installed. The car is still up on jacks and I have the axel nuts tightened a bit, but not torqued down yet. But now it is very hard to spin the wheels. Should this happen with new axels? I was reading somewhere else online that they will loosen up fine after driving,...

Transmission wiring?
Whoever replaced the transmission in my 85 T4WD before I bought it apparently decided it would be a good idea to cut all of the wires on both the transmission side and the wiring harness side. So now, I have 4 wires sitting in my engine compartment, but only 3 hanging off of the trans. I have two wi...

Re: Front Axle Replacement Video
I had the same issue with a brand new EMPI axel. xirdneh sent me the spider gear he was using and I was able to use the same method to get it to fit. If anyone else ever runs into this issue let me know and I can send you the gear if you don't have a spare tranny sitting around to pull one from.

Re: rear tailshaft housing seal & tranny fluid flush
Tried the ammonia, still no luck. Next step is to try some high head gas. After that I have an idea which might get it off but ruin the shield in the process. Does anybody have a spare dust shield sitting around they would be willing to send me if I do bugger it up?

Re: Can My Tercel Pull a Small Scamper?
A 13' Scamp trailer, like Petro pictured above, weighs in at about 950lbs and has a tongue weight of about 100lbs. I wouldn't worry too much about power, but more about braking like others have mentioned, especially if you load the trailer or your Tercel down with camping gear.

Installing new CV Axles With Engine Removed
I am currently getting everything ready to go to install my new 4AC motor. I figured now would be a good time to do a bunch of other stuff while the engine was out and I had better access. One of the things I am doing is new CV's as the car needed at least one anyways. The problem I am having is I c...

Re: rear tailshaft housing seal & tranny fluid flush
Does anyone have any tips for getting the output shaft dust shield off? I am having a hell of a time. It looks like there might be a little rust between the shield and the trans. I have sprayed it down with PB blaster, used a hammer, preyed with a screwdriver, used heat, etc., but NO LUCK. It doesn'...
