Re: Celica strut retrofitting

Well, I scrapped the celica struts and did Noahs new parts lift, and I couldn't be happier.
No more digging around at the picknpull for me!
Thanks yall for the input and guidance.

Re: 1986 Toyota Tercel 4wd wagon 6 speed - $900 Gold Country, CA

I went and looked at it yesterday. It's a bit rough, but it is a sunroof model, no AC, and was last on the road in 09. Has some junky respray on it and weird rust from being in San Diego most of its life. Supposedly has a low mileage import 3ac in it. Also supposedly has a perfectly functioning tran...

Re: Celica strut retrofitting

Waiittt, is the tercel spring supposed to go on the celica strut? Or did I miss something completely? EDIT: I read that Synth is using celica springs on the terecel strut with tercel strut inserts. That does not seem like it would work to me. Is there confirmation that this does indeed work? I know ...

Re: Celica strut retrofitting

The celica struts didn't come with camber adjustment, just large diameter through bolts. I didn't even think about the camber being adjustable until I got the finished washers back..oh well, we will see how it goes in a few days time.

Re: Celica strut retrofitting

I'm getting closer! While I was on vacation my friend picked up my custom washers ($150) from the local machinist. The normal through bolt would now be too short, so $20 later at Fastenall, I have some appropriatly sized bolts. Luckily the M12s from Fastenall had almost the exact same diameter as th...

Re: Celica strut retrofitting

I'll take all this info and apply it this weekend and see what happens! There was one member who built a pair of celica struts in this thread: http://tercel4wd.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9250 However, he never reported back on the installation process, so we were all left in the dark. I will soldier...

Re: Celica strut retrofitting

Can anyone also confirm the celica strut/knuckle bolt diameter? I just want to make sure I am more or less on the correct path before I start pulling apart my DD.

Re: Celica strut retrofitting

Thanks guys. That's what I had read and was hoping there was more info on. Before I go pulling my car apart, does anyone have the diameter of the tercel strut/knuckle through bolts? I need to spend some time at my local fastenal/hardware store and see if I can find something.

Celica strut retrofitting

So I've been creating a list of compents needed for the Barto/Synth lift. I've been measuring twice and trying to buy only once...unfortunately I do believe I've run into a bit of a snag. I recently found a 1990 Celica down in the Pick-n-pull and grabbed the front struts out of it. This Celica to be...

Re: F/S aftermarket Spectra gas tank

I wish I had taken before and after photos! My tank was filled with rust after sitting for 12 years. It was pretty nasty. Luckily it wasnt too detrimental as I dropped it off at the local radiator repair place; $130 and 1 week later he had it back to me all shiny and clean. He did not coat the insid...

F/S aftermarket Spectra gas tank

I purchased a Spectra gas tank for T4WD while my original gas tank was off having an acid bath, and now I have my original back! Make me an offer on it and as long as you pay shipping, it's yours. Pros: The interior is squeaky clean and I gave it a layer of paint to keep grit and grime off. Cons: •I...

Sacramento area Terc

http://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/5982858156.html Also no affiliation. Based on this guy calling it a "barn find" and that it is still registered and has 282k, I am inclined to be wary. It does look very clean and presentable but completely over priced. He does mention it needs to be so...
