Re: ISO: Front and/or Rear Differential
Sabra, The automatic trans cars are not nearly as common and include different gear ratios than the M/T cars. I think the earliest A/T cars may have had a 3.73 gear ratio, but by 85' you should be running 3.909 I believe. If you have a little space, it would be easiest and most economical to purchas...

Re: diagnosing high idle
dirklc, When we installed the rebuilt carb, we labelled and reinstalled the vacuum lines as they were set on the carb we removed. With the age of these cars, I wouldn't trust the vac hoses were correct to start with. The procedure in the FSM isn't bad, I feel like mine is working nearly correct for ...

Your links work. If I’m not mistaken, that is the one year only color that a lot of us like.

Hey Neu,
Yes, these appear to be the correct Trakmotive axles. Rock Auto has them for $51/each plus shipping, I would imagine it would work out pretty similar.

There are cheaper options for the front, look at Moog 81043.

Re: Rear shock absorbers wearing out unusually fast
I would guess your rear springs are allowing to much motion. I’m running the Pathfinder springs for lift and have a longer mono-shock. I think I have about 50k miles on the set up and I still like how it rides (more truck like).

Re: Repairing that awful fuel sender unit
Ala, I cleaned mine AND removed the swing arm "stop" so I could clean the backside of the contacting arm and bend it slightly to improve connection. So far, so good, now if I could say the same for my parts car tank (leaks) and the rust filling my fuel filters :). My low level light still ...

Yes 3 mechanics told me that it would fail if I change the fluid with new fluid..I would do it myself but I'm nervous to..I'm trying to look around and see if someone would be willing to help me out that knows cars a bit better then I do. I would also be willing to pay for anyone's time You might f...

Intermodal,
I do want to point out that the electrical harness changed along the way. When I put the older transmission in my 85', there is no sending unit for the "EL" light on the dash, so I live without it (no big deal to me). The 4WD indicator will still function.
