Re: Since the Head has got to come off:

Last year when following my friends tercel out of the parking garage i noticed white smoke (aka steam) coming out of his exhaust pipe. I mentioned it to him and he said his temp gage had been up and was adding a little water now and then. after two months it did not get any worse but he decided to p...

[quote="Bluebelles Mom"]Ok, maybe....how hard is it to get the clip back on? =quote] i think you can install the clip to the handle and pop the handle on with the palm of your hand. (but i have not tried it) i usually get the clip so its barely on the handle then slide it over the shaft an...

Re: Windows, doors and interior light.

getting the window crank off
use a thin fabric like a worn out shirt or bed sheet
take a strip of the fabric and use it between the door panel and the crank
it will slip down in behind the crank
pull the fabric around till it snags the protruting ends of the clip
that will pull the clip free

Re: Coolant Leak

Heater core replacement = no fun i would try flushing and anything else that might work first but if you do it removing the front passenger seat does make it a bit easier on the back the new cores are aluminum and not as thick as the original brass ones you may get lucky and find a non-aluminum core...

Re: Coolant Leak

there is a metal hose connection bolted to the back of the head that has a gasket the hose that attaches to it goes to the heater core then there is the metal tube that comes off the back of the waterpump and runs under the exhaust manifold the hose on the end also goes to the heater core so its eit...

Re: oil leak @ dizzy

The "O" rings get hard over time and can cause oil leaks. They are somewhere around 1" in diameter. Valve cover gaskets get hardened too. That's worth checking. When you remove the valve gasket bend it to see if fine cracks appear or it may just break.

Re: No excess of T4wds

I have bought 9 of them in western washington in the last ten years and paid $200-400. very few of them had any rust and it was minimal at that. All required work to get them to a dependable state. When I'm done with them i have $600-1000 total invested to make them reasonably dependable, nothing mo...

Re: 1985 carb problems...i think...lol

is the connection between the exhaust manifold heat shield and the air filter housing intact? its usually a piece of flexible hose made out of paper and foil and its about 1-1/4 - 1-1/2" in diameter if its missing or not connected the carb can ice over in cold weather one way to find out if its...

Re: 1985 carb problems...i think...lol

if you never smell gas in the car or out , its probably is not leaking gas
if thats the case its most likely a bad carburator
either rebuild it or get another one at a wrecking yard

carb kits are around 24.00

Re: Throw out bearing failure

Whoa, Petros- Isn't the input shaft bearing the one that comes out with the input shaft? You can get that out without removing the tranny- but you do need access to the underside of the car. Drop the tail of the tranny down, then It's the three bolts on the firewall side of the trans, then you coax...

Re: Can you help me identify this part

my tercel carb ices over when the heat is disconnected. usually on cold wet mornings between 30 and 34 degrees maybe if you live where its warmer it would not be a problem to disconnect it? my "72 ford courier had a manually operated flapper built into the air filter housing that i often forgot...
