jared - I forgot - the locking feature is one advantage of the Saris over the others (unless they have been revised); Saris already has integrated locks to secure the rack to the vehicle. Note that I don't have any of the racks to sell - the shop is closed. You will have to go to a dealer or online....

Actually, there are two other hoses before this one. The long metal tube leaves the converter and goes forward 3 feet or so to the reed valve (which is welded into the tube). Then a rubber hose connects to the bulbous filter, and then another hose connects the filter to the L-shaped tube (which was ...

2wagons - Yes - I installed the OEM EGR modulator and the OEM 3-tube distributor vacuum advance yesterday. And they work ! The idle has smoothed out considerably - and - for the first time I get the basic timing at 5 degrees plugged and it now advances to the prescribed 13 degrees with all lines att...

Chris and takza helped me on this one back in June... It is invisible unless the heat shield under the carburetor is removed. You can barely see it from underneath. It is really hard to get your fingers in to feel it with the heat shield in place. It is on the exhaust manifold directly below the &qu...

jared - I can second MootsMan's comment on remembering that a roof rack is in use, although I must admit that I narrowly missed a similar catastrophe with my '83 SR5 at a race in OH many years ago. All three of my daughters' bikes were on the roof. That would have been a long, silent trip home with ...

Well - I don't imagine anyone else will/does have this problem, but I will post a pix anyway. I would NOT advise anyone doing it this way: Just too darned hard-I will not mention how long it took to force the tube through under the AC compressor, but suffice it to say some time... Of course, if the ...

jared - I'll look around tonight and post an answer by tomorrow. This will take a bit of looking, as my colleagues in the stores now are not accustomed to dealing with - ahem - mature cars like ours. What kind of a bike did you get? I closed my store in 2003, but still wrench occasionally for a coup...

Eatpants - interesting - on my '86 wagon, the filter is in the "usual" position - beneath the master cylinder, attached to the inner fender. It must be a little crowded on yours, what with the pump and the filter back there. Carguylen - the AZ and FSM pics show it to be in the same positio...

j - What do you want to carry, ie., bikes, kayaks, skiis, storage boxes or ? I owned a bicycle store for many years and can check around. When I owned my '83 SR5 there were not the sophisticated racks we have now, and the one I used then was kinda crude compared to now, in terms of easy installation...

Vacuum switch "B" is attached to a vacuum line which runs from the TVSV to the Choke Breaker. So apparently it must control vac in some way to the CB - possibly by introducing varying (?) amounts of air into the system, thereby modifying the diaphragm's action inside the CB against the vac...

Thanks, guys. I will cut the tube and patch in either another metal tube, or more likely, use a piece of rubber tubing. The rubber should be no problem, as there are already two of this material in the routing. The only heat will be that thrown off by the block. The little tube on the new converter ...

This is a ludicrous price for a two-door, even were the mileage a lot less. This would have bought some of those clean SR5s a bit ago. I guess the key is the "collectible" tagline the seller used.
Wonder if it'll sell - for anything near $6K ?

Thanks for the reply. This tube - and the kink - are beneath the oil filter, and nowhere near the converter. There are already rubber tubes in this steel tube, between the reed valve box and the filter and connecting the filter with the bent pipe in question (not in photo, though). What you can use ...

I would appreciate someone looking at their Federal catalytic converter tube in the engine bay, and comparing it with mine in the photo. This is the tube leading forward from the converter, that has the filter and reed valve in it. Apparently only Federal vehicles have this. The FSM does not have a ...
