Re: Oil drain plug gasket
Ok, returned all the imposter gaskets and received from Toyota the OEM part # 9043018023 $2.04. Hoping this does the job, wondering if as has been suggested to apply some permatex to the gasket as a back up?

Re: Oil drain plug gasket
Thanks to all! Ordered a couple of gaskets from Rock Auto, they are described as being fiber. When they arive will drain oil and have a real good look-see at the pan. Don't really know if it leaked before even though the plug was wet because the valve cover and stud plugs were leaking and since chan...

Oil drain plug gasket
Greetings again, Was just performing an oil and filter change and discovered that there were two gaskets under the plug which required the use of a razor to completely remove. I bought a replacement gasket from Advanced auto parts. The package states it as M18-1,50. The gasket appears to made from a...

Re: Fuel tank sending unit
My problem is not with the fuel guage, although I will agree about their inaccuracy. My problem is in the small lower case that is at the end of a rod independent of the float. The top of the case has a rod attached to a wire which goes to a soldered terminal. The top of this case has a rubber type ...

Have since removed the sending unit and tried soaking with carb. cleaner then gas and many a love tap and can't get the switch to connect ground. Would love to see what exactly is going on inside that sealed warnig swit...

Re: 1983 Tercel won't fire up
Hi Dib, I say this because at the present even if I wanted to get the initial timing to 5 degrees BTDC I couldn't. The dissy. is presently turned all the way it can go without egging out the guide to get more movement of the dissy.. I don't think it should be this way? Also some times when the ign. ...

Re: 1983 Tercel won't fire up
This is what I learned, the diaphram from Toyota, part # 2167535510 is currently still avail. for a mere $51, please kiss me first! The part can be found elsewhere online for $31 plus s/h and you are right back to rape territory. The answere, as some one here suggested is papa Napa, part # CRB 2-401...

Re: 1983 Tercel won't fire up
Hi Dib,
Just went out to take a look and removed the vac. hose from the AAP. I sucked on the hose and received another petro-coctail hum! Thinking this shouldn't be?
If it is bad can it be rebuilt or has to be replaced and where can it or the kit be had?

Re: 1983 Tercel won't fire up
Thanks again, AS expected the vac. advance was toast and now know almost why. Early on when I put a vac. line on the old diaphram and sucked on it I noticed there was no resistance and most of all the taste of fuel. Now with the new diaphram installed on the dissy.the car started as it did before bu...

Re: 1983 Tercel won't fire up
Hello again, Update on what is happening, sent the Crown reman.dissy. back to Rock auto, the vac. advance only had one port at the bottom. Kept the new vac. advance with three ports and will block one of the two ports on the sub. diaphram as suggested. The one I am planning to block has a smaller or...

Re: Jet #1
Thank you all for your replies, your suggestions are well received. About the Jet, the psm states to check for air passage in each direction, before mine broke into pieces, air did not flow in either direction.

Re: 1983 Tercel won't fire up
Great response, thank you much! Both cans are shot, when sucked on no resistance is experienced just a sort of petro tasting air. When blowing into it you can here air purging out of the inside of the dissy. I ordered a wholesale closeout reman. Dissy. from Rock Auto @ approx. $100 (no photo avail.)...
