Re: Greetings from France

That's probably one of ten Tercels left in that shape--consider yourself lucky!

Rattling Sound Instrument Cluster

I've got this rattling sound that appears to be coming from the instrument cluster. It started recently, and makes a very regular sound that increases in frequency with speed. Sounds like rattly speedometer gears or something? Anyone with any experience fixing this/hearing this?

Re: '84 WAGON REBUILD

The most practical way to get a 2-4" lift to fit big tires and a high-geared, heavy duty axle, while still having enough power in reserve to drive it safely, would be to sell the Tercel and buy a Tacoma.

Cold Start / Fast Idle Problem

I'm wondering if anyone can help me diagnose a minor issue in my Tercel. Winter mornings here in Maine are typically frigid, so I typically perform the cold start procedure in my Tercel by pressing twice on the gas, for one-Mississippi per pump. The car will always immediately start, but if it hasn'...

Re: Interior Parts

It's a damn goldmine of Tercel parts in there. Could rebuild a transmission with what he's got listed. And so much more--a JDM grill or three, elusive trim parts, etc.

Re: Interior Parts

My a-pillar exists in its entirety, it just has a hairline crack in it that sets off my (admittedly sensitive) OCD, so I'd suggest keeping that one for yourself. Spent this snowy weekend refinishing my MR2 triangle wheels and redoing the black window/windshield trim. Going to try another attempt at ...

Thank you! Is the gear shifter knob a screw-on piece as well, or does it come off some other way? Trying hard not to break stuff here...

Re: Interior Parts

I don't have them in my possession...they're out at the junk yard but I'll snag them on my next trip...probably this weekend. I'd just charge you cost plus actual shipping...which might be a bit out to Maine but I don't think the part will be very expensive. I just sewed some shift boots for my 86....

Re: Interior Parts

Tom M: I did indeed follow that thread--printed out the templates, bought fabric, sat down with a sewing kit, and after all of ten minutes, thought: "darn this shit". Nothing to do with your precise, easy-to-follow, excellent set of instructions; everything to do with my lack of patience/s...

Interior Parts

Hi Everyone-- I'm searching for some interior bits for my 1986 SR5 with the brown stripey interior (not plaid!). Specifically: shift boots for the shifter and transfer case, driver's side a-pillar trim, and the seat bottoms for the front seats. Willing to pay handsomely for good parts! Tried fabrica...

Hey Everyone-- I was just browsing the treasure trove that is the tri-state area Craigslist, when I stumbled upon this little gem: https://newyork.craigslist.org/que/cto/d/1987-toyota-tercel-4wd-low-mileage/6774723883.html 47K miles! But in need of transmission repair. Paint and interior look good f...
