Re: 1987 Toyota White Steel Wheels w/ Center Caps

I might have a line on a 5th alloy wheel to use as a spare. If that works out I'll include the original white steel wheel from my car at no additional cost.

Re: SPECTRA FUEL TANK

If you are having gas come out of the filler cap, you may have a plugged charcoal canister or hose to it. I can't see how the canister can affect filling the tank--it's just a tiny hose that sucks off fumes. It acts as a vent tube for the fuel tank. If the canister is plugged, so is that vent tube...

Re: WTB/ISO: Working VSV

Nope. This was the little solenoid that opens the charcoal canister.

Re: '84 WAGON REBUILD

I was only suggesting using heim joints on the rear axle trailing links and Panhard rod. You can get sealed heim joints that should outlast the factory rubber bushings, though ride comfort may be compromised. Re: Axle play at Front differential & bearing whine #%&*

Don't support the car with only one jack stand, wait until you get your other one back before trying to fill the transmission (which should only be done when the vehicle is level F/R and side-to-side).

Re: Adjusting Weber for large elevation changes?

I'd suggest keeping the AFR as close to 14.7 as you can, leaning toward 13:1 or "rich" for safety. Anything above 14.7:1 is considered "lean" and could cause detonation.

Re: Terc #2

I would absolutely call Delta Cam, I'm sure they can help you find something, and their services are shockingly inexpensive for what is basically a custom-ground camshaft. I bought one from them for an off-road engine project that I never finished but the cam had it's torque peak around 2,000 RPM, a...

Re: 7age rebuild for 1981 tercel

But a car magazine actually tested this idea back in the 1980's, and it results in octane rating higher than the premium fuel alone. I understand how octane is measured and what it means. You and I have some similar automotive background, I'm currently a Senior Design Engineer at an OEM vehicle man...

Re: 7age rebuild for 1981 tercel

Stay away from home-brewed high octane fuel, buy the highest octane pump gas you can find or just buy a drum of Sunoco or other boutique high-octane fuel. It's not worth the risk of damage to the fuel system to play backyard chemist. Also mixing regular unleaded with premium unleaded nets you... mid...

Re: If I can manage a suitable repower in the future

Is that a Justy? I just bought an engine stand off a guy with 30 Justys on his compound. Looks like a fun little car. Did you have to swap motors to push those tires? Nope, it's an '80-89 hatchback. Stock engine and trans, but this particular one has a Nissan transfer case as well with a stock rear...

Re: Oh Boy! What a deal!

The mag ride stuff performs amazingly well, but they don't last long. Probably has to do with the suspended iron filings and rubber seals not playing nicely.
