Re: 4A-FE as a rebuild block

Thanks dlb! Sounds about right. I recommed to do this swap if you have worn out 4A block and suitable good condition 4A pistons with connecting rods waiting for correct block. Overboring a block does cause additional costs similarly to buying oversize pistons. Machine shop will charge you also for ...

Re: Sprinter Carib white edition

That white model is called the WHITE LIMITED, in case you cannot read at least some Japanese.

Unfortunately my language skills are limited to four different languages and japanese is not one of them. So I am translator dependant in japanese. I would need to ask someone who speaks japanese ...

Re: Cracked head

Or did you remove that valve by yourself for inspection? If yes, then I understand the cracked head part.

Some engine shops do use vacuum gauges to find such issues.

I see. Then it has two faults, a cracked head and a missing valve. Here is a picture of my recenly opened 3A engine head with all remaining 8 valves. You can compare the difference by yourself.

Re: 1987 Tercel 4wd project

BEA received a new engine during last week, which I have presented in engine repair guide section. It is basically a late 4A-FE block with 4A head. It works well now. The reason for my engine swap were high HC values in emission tester. I still need to do emission tests for my new engine to verify ...

Re: 1987 Tercel 4wd project

I did install Carib 1987 RV special inclinometer to my 1987 BHP, which is an original RV special Tercel 4wd. The inclinometer fits well to BHP in my opinion.

I did find some time ago from Ebay an AE86 steering wheel, which was used originally in some Carib models too. It did receive new leather and ...

Re: 1986 Tercel 4wd

I got this project a bit onwards during last week. I did improve exhaust mounts and I did remake rear brake lines. They were completely rusted out but I remade them with some copper brake pipe. In the end my brake lines, pads and front rotors had still enough material. I still need to buy rear ...

Re: 4A-FE as a rebuild block

The 4A-FE block is now working fine in one of my Tercels. It needed some extra work and it will need some minor adjustments in the future. But I am happy with that block due to good condition of original cross hatching in all cylinders of that very block.

Here are my final additional notes when ...

Apparently Toyota took an early Sprinter Carib 4wd to lots of different places in the 80's.

Do you have the August 1984 ...

Re: 1986 Tercel 4WD Sweden restoration

I intend to keep the emissions stuff working as is. I have drilled out the carb now and the car runs alittle better. I reokaced the valve seals and been tinkering with the car. I had to repair the gas tank again but its not leaking anymore. The car has been running great since my last tune up and ...

Re: 1986 Tercel 4wd

Look nice! Nice to see a different color combo for the interior. Where in finland do you live? I make trips to the salla area sometimes. =) I have a 86 tercel that i restored.

Thanks! Brown T4wd interior is not that common anymore in Finland. That was part of my interest to get this car going ...
