Re: Radiator blew/ engine ran really hot

I found out im a dummy, i had no idea that an alternator labled external regulator means you need a voltage regulate that is external to the alternator.... i wont cry if you laugh at me and shake your head.. Ill be getting a new alternator with an internal voltage regulator.. poor tercel was walking...

Re: Radiator blew/ engine ran really hot

No there are internally regulated ones but they were 20$ more so I just went to save a few bucks because I didn’t think it would matter at all. I’ll probably just buy the internally regulated one, because that’s the only difference in the system

Re: Radiator blew/ engine ran really hot

Hey guys, Got a new radiator and alternator. Installed everything and put new coolant. Car seems to run strong as ever, no white smoke, temps are normal. Only funny thing is that I bought a new alternator with an external regulator (old one was internal) as soon as I plugged it in and connected batt...

Radiator blew/ engine ran really hot

Hi guys, So the past few days I’ve been getting to daily my Tercel due to my daily getting rear ended so it’s in the collision shop. (Really not ideal but I enjoy driving the car) Car drives amazing since all the work I’ve done, I commute 35 miles one way. Tercel stays steady on speed limit (45-65mp...

Refreshed paint job

I took some time to sand off the old dry cracked bed liner the previous owner had put on the car. Used some Raptor aerosol bed liner to re do it. It came out pretty nice for a 80$ paint job.

Re: Clutch Chatter/Vibration

Thank you for helping me look at the simple things first, i was dreading having to get into the clutch assembly again. I looked at the sector and paw mechanism and it looked perfect in relation to the FSM, so i decided to try to put washers on the cable where it meets with the bellhousing above the ...

Re: Clutch Chatter/Vibration

Petros and Nordical, The TPS was what it was, and ive been referring to the FSM like crazy, its my savior. The linkage was sticking so when i would blip the throttle the TP decelerator mechanism would extend to help with the deceleration - but as my foot came off the pedal the throttle linkage came ...

Re: Clutch Chatter/Vibration

Cold start the choke is engaged and it idles around 1500RPM, after a little i'll pump the throttle and it will drop to "warm" idle around 850RPM (i plan to advance it a bit) while around normal operating temperature, at warm idle, if i press the gas pedal it will rev along normally, but on...

Re: Clutch Chatter/Vibration

Wasn’t bad at all, found that the HAC vacuum line to the distributor was cracked, replaced it and now it holds an idle. I will advance the timing a tad, Choke seems to be working well. But now when I pump the throttle it will rev up to around 1500 without me holding the pedal down then it drops back...

Re: Clutch Chatter/Vibration

UPDATE: I finally got my flywheel back from machine shop after 3 months (he was doing my 22R block and flywheel also). Still a long time… This weekend I replaced the clutch, kept it very clean, torqued down P/P bolts evenly, installed bearings and clutch, reinstalled the transmission. After some eff...

Re: Clutch Chatter/Vibration

Petros, unfortunately no.. the clutch disc itself has a bigger diameter than the tercels flywheel. Incompatible so i need to send it back.. Slimdude85, hmm i didnt even think that, the "wear on the fingers" does look odd but it almost looks like a heat treat to me but i cant be sure. Eithe...
