Re: Alloy wheels
If you decide to sell the 13's instead, I'll be heading up to Iowa through Missouri in about a month, and would be interested depending on price.

Re: Front Sway bar bracket captive nut problem
Petros is right. I only torqued it with my long ratchet; no cheater bar and not the breaker bar. But I was also playing a little dirty because the stainless riv nuts take more way torque to seat than the sway bar mount nuts, so I figured: a) if it did start to spin while i was backing out the seatin...

Re: Front Sway bar bracket captive nut problem
That said, the anti-sway bar mounts can be a little finicky to get back in at the best of times. Sometimes it takes a lot of cautious fiddling to get the bolts angled in just right. That's actually part of why I considered replacing it with another rivet nut. I didn't chase the threads, but did use...

Re: Front Sway bar bracket captive nut problem
28B363BC-A14C-4D96-9FBF-6A3C14358000.jpeg The rivet nut worked great. I'll post a quick step by step later, but the basics were a stainless M10 coarse threaded rivet nut, angle grinder to cut off the old bolt, a reaming bit to ream the existing hole out to 1/2", and the poor man's nut setter. ...

Re: Front Sway bar bracket captive nut problem
Thanks! I ended up ordering stainless M10x1.5 rivet nuts Monday and getting an allen head replacement bolt. And the poor man's rivet nut tool - a lock washer, an M12 nut, and a longer bolt. I did some long overdue bike maintenance from my AZT wash last October this week, and then it rained, so I'll ...

Re: Front Sway bar bracket captive nut problem
Right now I'm thinking blind rivet nut or jack nut would probably be smarter than helicoil if the captive nut really is detached.

Front Sway bar bracket captive nut problem
Working on refreshing front suspension on my $325 Tercel, and one of the front sway bar bracket bolts came about 3/4 of the way out and no further. It doesn't seem stripped, because even putting downward pressure on the bracket isn't doing a thing; seems more like the weld on the captive nut broke a...

ISO: bad manual transmission mount
Hi all, I'm looking for a parts bin manual transmission mount. Instead of welding up an auto mount with my old top bracket, I'd like to have a go at pouring my own. I can use the one I've got on a day I bike to work, but figure a spare would be nice so I can match the new up against the old. If you'...

Re: Update: ISO 87-88 headlights/earlier headlamps and grill/Sr5 dash cluster
@Professor - sent you a pm.
@NWMO - that actually helps for reference. The grill on the car now was cut down to allow the later headlights, so it helps to have a reference picture to compare my spare grill to and see if anything was cut off of it in the testing process.

Re: Update: ISO 87-88 headlights/earlier headlamps and grill/Sr5 dash cluster
bumping this - I updated the parts wanted in the top post and title.
TLDR: I'm looking for a pre-87 headlamp/grill setup or 87/88 headlamps (reflector de-laminition is fine) and/or an SR5 gauge cluster for less than the price of a full parts car.

Re: 3D printed Synchros?
Good to know. I think if I come across a NOS set I'll look into the 3d printing option. So far I've had little luck with Dallas machine shops when NLA parts for my van need replacing, but I could definitely live with paying a good machinist a bit extra if it meant keeping my car alive. Especially co...

3D printed Synchros?
I'm about to start trying to hunt down synchros by seeing if any DFW transmission shops or Toyota specialists can source any NOS shelf parts. If I come across what I need, I got to thinking that it should be possible to 3d print replacements as long as an unused example can be found and brass 3d pri...
