Not all of them require ATF; mine only runs on pure, unadulterated stop-leak.

Re: Fuel Pump Failure

My pump is leaking and I am here to check if its rebuildable or should I just replace it? I have a 1984 (early) version. (medium-spec SR5 without A/C and steel rims instead of alloys etc) I will be installing another engine in the future and was hoping the new fuel pump will be fine to feed a 4AC w...

You’re welcome, it’s a great business. They also rent non-lift work areas, but at $20/hr it’s not really worth it unless they’ve got tools you don’t have.

Re: Access to a lift & transmission stand in Portland area?

Gearhead Garage in Tigard rents a lift bay for $25/hr. Failing that, I’ve got some ramps if you want to get nasty with it.

Re: Thoughts on some paint

I was thinking about spray on bed-liner if I ever decide to paint my 37-year old faded and stained “Super White” Tercel. Not sure where that falls on the trashy/classy spectrum, but I like the idea.

Re: Manual Steering?

How much extra wear and tear is put on the rack by deleting the power steering belt and pump? I’ve heard that the racks equipped with power steering aren’t built to handle the extra stress. My power steering fluid leaks like a sieve, so this is an option I’ve definitely thought about.

Re: Leaking water pump; can it make it one more day?

Still hasn’t leaked again, and the cooling system seems to be working fine. Driving around with the spare pump just in case, but it seems like the old cap was just bad.

I deleted my own TVSV, but if this wagon still has it I’ll gladly grab it for someone else.

Re: 86 SR5 4x4 Wagon

Replacing the alternator yourself is one of the easiest repairs, and it's always satisfying to fix it yourself. They're pretty much plug & play; all you need is a socket wrench, crescent wrench, and a prybar or similar chunk of metal to pull the belt tight while you tighten.

Re: Pacific NW wrecking yards

I am selling off my "private collection" of parts, listed in the Used Parts section this forum: https://tercel4wd.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=3 However, the parts I'm selling may not be suitable for road-side repairs, as such, but some are "pretty." :D Sorry I haven't got back to...

Re: 1984 Tercel 4WD parting out on Craigslist SW Washington

I'm supposed to be meeting this guy sometime this weekend if anybody wants me to ask about certain parts. I already have dibs on the tail lights, alternator, CV axles, and possibly the gauge cluster though.

Hey all, Ernie was last active 12/21, however, he provided his email address. That is likely the best bet to reach him. To echo what Mattel shared, the site has no problem with reaching out to others in any other way as long as it's respectful and meets the community standards. Chris Is that email ...

Re: 1985 Toyota Tercel SR5 4x4 Wagon Parts

If you’re on the other side of the country, I’d love to grab the alternator, distributor, thermostat housing, dome light, and water pump housing from you. If you’re within driving distance of Oregon though, I’d be interested in the seats and some other interior stuff.

How’s the steering rack?

Pacific NW wrecking yards

Hi again everybody! I’m trying to stock up the milk crate in the back of the wagon, and was wondering if anybody knows which wrecking yards and used parts stores tend to have ‘80s Tercel parts laying around, if any of them do. I’ve got notifications set up on Row52.com, but most of the auto wreckers...
