Re: The Tersailor (REBUILDING)

IT RUNS!!!!!! Decided to go the store and buy some starting fluid. Cleaned the starter, and crank it! It still made a few clunking sounds when cranking but the engine starts up now! After about a minute running i also realized that the engine had 0 coolant inside due to a leak. There was also a oil ...

Re: The Tersailor (REBUILDING)

Yep the clutch cable seem to have slipped out of position. Im glad it was not anything internal. Works much better than i thought since transmission also shifts more freely in park to all the gears than before. But tomorrow ill see if i can find anything more that's been misplaced.

Re: The Tersailor (REBUILDING)

Update. The car seemed complete and ready to start! New coolant and oil. Wiring appears complete. Upon turning the ignition and attempted to start... Only heard a single click and no crank. Upon investigating the clutch was not installed properly and the new 60$ 24f walmart battery wasnt giving enou...

Re: The Tersailor (REBUILDING)

Thanks NWMO I decided to pull the trigger on JB weld and on the photo I used a broken piston ring to fill the gap, its not perfect but it gives more peace of mind. As for progress on the engine, crankshaft is installed and the cylinder head is ready. Simply waiting for some Rockauto rod bearings to ...

Does this pulley look good to use?

I am deciding whether to file out the sharp edges on my chipped crankshaft pulley (harmonic balancer), or wait days looking for a used pulley for sale. What do you guys think, does it look reusable? :?: Either the last owners were clumsy or simply road damage, But I am concerned if it can cause majo...

Re: The Tersailor (REBUILDING)

It wasn't really the cheapest option for a rebuild kit, like the ones in eBay were. I simply got this DNJ because of the reviews. Couple of people in a different forum used the 22R DNJ rebuild kits. They been driving for a while now and faced no problems, as for as my brother subaru baja that hasnt ...

Re: The Tersailor (REBUILDING)

Alright so the my master DNJ rebuild kit from partsology finally came, but im not too excited about it for a reason. Most of the products are "made in Taiwan" which are communist but they tend to have better quality reputation than china but not as good like usa or japan. But im not too wo...

Re: The Tersailor (REBUILDING)

This tercel keeps surprising me in the best ways. Turns out it a 4AC Block! :) I watched a couple videos and manuals on measuring the bores, i kept hitting around 81mm instead of the 3AC std 77mm. I checked for any previous reboring marks then thought i measured it wrong. My brother confirmed it was...

Re: The Tersailor (REBUILDING)

Yeah its some flash rust because i cleaned it with water then put wd-40. But its not deep enough to be a problem but we will still clean it out and measure it.

Re: The Tersailor (REBUILDING)

The only experience i have is playing a game called car mechanic simulator, so I appreciated to those who took the time to respond. Chris, The 250$ master rebuild kit in ebay will come with the piston head and rings. My brother has the tools to measure the bore so ill see if he can help. As for Petr...

Re: The Tersailor (REBUILDING)

I do not have much experience in this area, but I decided not to get oversized pistons because the machine shop cost more $$$. The engine only has 170k miles, it ran pretty well before and most of the engine problems it had were only because the engine part was dirty or it simply wither out in time...

Re: The Tersailor (REBUILDING)

20230901_163550_HDR.jpg Alright today it didn't rain so we had some time to remove and disassemble the whole head and engine block. A few scratches was found and couple of loose bolts. The head gasket looked like it was starting to fail since couple of small holes were slightly brunt and widened ou...

Re: The Tersailor (STORY)

Since it will be raining for quite some time, I guess I can now tell my Tercel 4wd story how the car was stolen, beaten up, abandoned, and how the 1st owner droven it all the way across the US. I had a AI make my story use more artistic word than it previously did... As the rain continued to pour do...
