Thanks for the help. I’ve already removed the trans. (It is a manual). The shifter housing was full of crud/ cup pretty much gone. The unit was full of clean fluid. I’ve already removed the bell housing and don’t see anything unusual with the front bearings. I’ll keep digging in when I get a chance....
