Re: Got to drive a Viper....

One option in a reasonably priced sports car is the Nissan 350Z. One guy who tested one got around 30 mpg on the highway. It is a performance car...3.5 L V6 I think. Not a lot of room though. Good idea to make sure the engine is sound though...DOHC engine with a t-belt. I'm thinking of a Honda Accor...

Re: Got to drive a Viper....

My guess is that it's a 2006-7 or ? I'd like to have it for a week or so...get really into the groove with it...but that's probably not going to happen. You'd have to be way on top of your game to drive it hard. It's my observation that most people...especially those with Corvettes don't really driv...

Got to drive a Viper....

This summer my nephew bought a Viper on the west coast and drove it home. 500 HP and tires on the back with maybe 1.5 feet tread width. I only drove it for maybe 1 mile or so and didn't get it out of 3rd gear. Strange car. I sat so low in it that I almost couldn't see over the dash/steering wheel. R...

Re: Death Valley road trip

I looked at the dunes thru my binocs...it was a pretty long hike to get to them. LOL. I did check out the rock formations along the dry lake...looking for caves. While I was there there was a guy taking photos using an old tripod camera setup...and one person did hike down to the dunes. Down south o...

Re: Death Valley road trip

Yea...it's a PITA when you can't do what you want. But then consider the number of people that want to do just that. I've camped over much of the west and 99% of the time it wasn't in National Parks....too many restrictions. There is a lot of Forest Service/BLM/state land to camp on. I've thought of...

Re: Death Valley road trip

All I can say is watch the transmission in your T4wd if you get into climbing rough slopes...etc. Especially if you have higher miles on it. Also need to watch hitting the alum trans on rocks in the center of trails...ALWAYS keep the center of the car away from high spots? Easy way to get a bit of l...

Re: Farting around the west coast

I tried the California thing many years ago and didn't stay...ended up retreating like you are talking about. They say it never rains in Cali...but don't count on it. People usually bring their issues and problems with them...just can get a little better perpective on things though. I'd stick with i...
