Re: Need help from Carb gurus with 22r

Thanks, compression looks good. 165-175 on all 4 so no bent valves. Scratchin my head still. Probably going to do another deep clean on the carb and let it soak in solution over night before reassembly. I’ll keep the thread updated.

Re: Need help from Carb gurus with 22r

Right on, when you say snap back into place, the rotor will not turn as under normal engine operations, but instead the shaft will twist a little from the force you are applying, then ‘snap’ back to where it was before you manipulated it? If that’s the case it seems to be clean and free from defect,...

Re: Need help from Carb gurus with 22r

We made it home after a couple days, tried the drop down test yesterday. It seemed like they all dropped the same amount, but I’m going to check compression after a friend returns the unit I loaned. Thanks for the heads up, that would also explain fuel being back-blown out of the carb after the timi...

Re: Need help from Carb gurus with 22r

I sure did, the old one looked good, but replaced it in case there was a pinhole I couldn’t see with the sun behind it. From what I understand the AAP only helps on the initial transition to WOT from cruising. This problem is constant and I cannot get RPMs above 2500 with more than 1/2 throttle, but...

Re: Need help from Carb gurus with 22r

Tried that out this morning, thanks for the thought! Didn’t seem to help, however I do seem to think it’s not getting enough air through the carb. Started our haul home this morning, I’ll update with any progress once I get home. If anyone else has input I can always stop and tinker while the girlfr...

Re: Introduction

Thanks for the reply, it has gotten into the red once after climbing my paved driveway which is very steep and about 1/4 mile long. So I have done a pressure test of the system and done the diagnostics for checking the gasket besides visually inspecting it. Since it had gotten that hot, it made me t...

Re: Introduction

So I am scratching my head, long story short I replaced the t-stat with a duralast gold, Replaced the water pump, added a dual core radiator from my spare, swapped out temp sending units and did a vinegar flush through the system. When it’s hot the surface temp of the engine reads 200-210 between cy...

Re: Introduction

I have a thermostat(Murray-Israeli made) and have not replaced it yet. I was planning on doing that tomorrow afternoon when i get home. I have no reason to believe the head gasket has been compromised since the oil looks good and i dont recall seeing any steam coming from the exhaust. Also, the heat...

Re: '88 Tercel automatic won't start....not even a click

Took apart some of my spare starters and found two contacts that appeared new, swapped them into a motor with good teeth and cleaned everything up, it has started about 10 times in a row, I think that solved the issue. Thanks for the knowledge.

Re: '88 Tercel automatic won't start....not even a click

I should have edited the above post instead of make this new one, but it is a click from the starter which I assume is the solenoid...and it’s an 85 4wd 6speed if it makes any difference
