Re: 1987 DLX in Spokane
Car is still available, and I've listed it on Craigslist for $2,200 with the exclusion of the extra wheels with winter tires and inclinometer, which muddybumper has spoken for. Feel free to send a PM or use the Craigslist ad if anyone is interested. https://spokane.craigslist.org/cto/d/spokane-1987-...

Re: 1987 DLX in Spokane
Petros - glad to hear you're interested; I sent you a PM. More generally, I'm curious about everyone's thoughts on pricing. I see wide variety in prices in the Cars for Sale section over the last six months or so, ranging from about $600 for a rig that needs immediate work to be drivable up to $5k+ ...

1987 DLX in Spokane
Our growing family means I'm sadly parting ways with my beloved 1987 Toyota Tercel DLX wagon. I bought this vehicle in June 2018 in Cheney, WA, and from what the prior owner told me (and the Carfax shows), the car has been in Montana and Eastern Washington its whole life. I've used it primarily as a...

Re: Difference in temperature gauge ranges from 2nd to 3rd gen clusters?
Thanks for the replies and info. I checked the temperature on the radiator hoses with the infrared thermometer gun after driving home on a warmer day last week and nothing was above 195 F, so paired with the swapped-back-in DLX temp gauge behaving normally, it seems like there is something amiss wit...

Re: Difference in temperature gauge ranges from 2nd to 3rd gen clusters?
Thanks for the info Peter! I appreciate the quick and detailed response. I wanted to add a few more details - The temp gauge in the SR5 cluster moves around a lot - much, much more than the gauge in the original DLX cluster. In my 15-20 minute commute home late yesterday afternoon, I saw the needle ...

Difference in temperature gauge ranges from 2nd to 3rd gen clusters?
I swapped out the instrument cluster on my 87 T4 DLX to a 83/84 SR5 to gain the tach. The temp gauge needle on the original cluster would generally sit just below the temp symbol in the middle of the gauge (horizontal on that gauge). However, on the temp gauge needle on the SR5 cluster seems to gene...
Re: Tires!
I also have General RT43 tires, both on my Tercel and my wife's non-Tercel. I ran them on the Subaru wagon I had before my Tercel as well. Pretty good overall performance for me here in Eastern WA and when I used to live in greater DC.

1985 SR5 in Spokane, WA
This is my neighbor, so I'm happy to go check it out and take pictures if someone is interested (and if I don't end up buying it myself to double my personal T4 collection).

Re: Cross-compatible parts from 88 coupe?
Well the junk yard was closing shortly after I arrived last night, but I did manage to pull the instrument cluster and inclinometer. The car looks like it had been sitting for quite awhile before it showed up at the junk yard - more dead bugs inside and a dustier engine bay than I've seen on other j...

Re: Cross-compatible parts from 88 coupe?
Looks like an 83 SR5 just showed up at the junk yard in the last day or two. I’m planning on running out after work to see what I can pull. From what I recall, compatibility of interior pieces might be hit or miss with my 87 DLX, but most mechanical pieces are going to be worth grabbing. I’m looking...

Re: Cross-compatible parts from 88 coupe?
Thanks Peter! If something else at the junk yard pops up worth checking out, I'll have to take a look at the 88 coupe too and check for a few of these things. I put 14" wheels on my T4 earlier this year (pulled from a Corolla) but depending on the trim level, the engine might be worth checking ...

Re: Cross-compatible parts from 88 coupe?
Thanks for the reply, Peter. Sounds like it may not be worth the trip unless someone here has a particular part they may need.
