It's been like this since I've owned the vehicle which has been about 3 years

Anyone else have a fuel gauge that goes down halfway almost instantly?

After I fill up my fuel gauge is back down to half way after about 50 miles usually. Anyone else have this happen?

Re: Having a weird issue

I pulled the vac line from the AAP and capped it off. I didn't notice any fuel in the vac line itself but so far I haven't noticed a red hot cat so that may have been my issue. I bought a fsm and there isn't anything in there I could find about the AAP, but luckily the Chilton manual had a helpful d...

Re: Having a weird issue

Thank you for the info. I do not know what or where the AAP vac line is, I'm fact I am still generally a newbie when it comes to the Toyota tercel. I have a fsm on the way in the mail, once I get that hopefully it will show me exactly where all of my vac lines are. As for the cc, yes it still has sh...

Re: Having a weird issue

Update: I replaced the spark plugs and wires and adjusted the timing. I'm still getting a glowing catalytic converter (not exhaust manifold like I previously said). Any suggestions? My next idea is to clean out the carb, replace the vacuum lines, maybe replace the distributor. I'm not losing power o...

Re: Having a weird issue

I haven't tried to drive it since noticing this issue, I didn't want to cause any unnecessary damage. The timing does need to be adjusted though, so I will get a light and check it next time I have it running.

Having a weird issue

Recently when I've been starting my 87 tercel it's been idling high and the exhaust manifold will start glowing orange. Does anyone have any ideas what I should be looking for? The car has mostly just been sitting since July but before that it was my daily driver. Thanks in advance.

Re: 1985 Tercel Sr5 river crossing

That looks fun and always good to have some support vehicles. , where I live in Australia i'm more likely to drive in the sand. Here's my corolla with the diff lock on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dz3JHXYmXuA That's awesome. I would love to find some sand in my area but it's going to be dirt in...

1985 Tercel Sr5 river crossing

I was doing some 4wheeling with my buddies, nothing major, just some forest service roads. We came to a river crossing and they asked me who I wanted to ride with since they were both driving 4runners. I told them I wasn't riding with anyone and would drive myself. The water was pretty low, I did th...
