It worked. My car is fine now and after driving 60 miles and shutting the engine off everything shut down. So if you see my earlier post "I think I have figured it all out" you can learn how this was done.

Do you still have a radio or coolant reservoir?

BTW, my mechanic has not gotten back to me about the re-wiring of the fan yet which I outlined 6 messages ago. It may seem obtuse but I think it may be the answer for my odd woes. Do you think my analysis is a worthy one?

I didn't know that they were just circuits...not circuits that represent something... like the heater, emission control computer,etc., e.g., but thank you. I guess it helps to have Toyota identifying them, none-the-less, in the diagrams to better track their placement, circuitry and usage in the FSM ...

I'm looking at page 1 of the FSM in the wiring diagrams section at the very end of the manual. On the first page (874) on the upper left hand part of the page are the capital letters from A to G which label the wiring but do not have any info on any of the pages that refer to these letters.

No need to respond...found an OEM double row new at a good price.

What is legend for wiring diagrams in FSM...A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H, p. 874-877 aka page 1? Of course one can follow the wiring around but there should be info similar to what is provided for a,b,c,d but it doesn't seem to be there! Thanks again.

I THINK I HAVE FIGURED IT ALL OUT!!!! Today I downloaded the FSM and studied the wiring diagrams. When the cooling fan was hooked up to run constantly I believe it was wired up, not made to run by removing the sensor. This would create a circuit to the emission control computer, the radiator fan ...

RE overheating....Can buy a new APG radiator double row for 86 and CAT water pump for about 30. (Been flushed a number of times. The rad is going anyhow with a minor leak 1/2 way down that mostly sweats and there doesn't seem to be any way to know if the water pump is working by looking at it so I ...

Have read many posts and see that there is no real consensus. I need a wheel alignment...perhaps it will help but I only get around 18mpg around town. I'll have to recheck in the near future.

P.S. The fan has been rigged so that the fan runs all the time which should help with the cooling of the engine rather than being cooled only at certain temperatures and avoiding the need to examine further issues with sending units/sensors/wiring, etc. I don't believe that this is otherwise harmful ...
