I won’t be returning to my home in Sacramento until mid January...if you still have the car, I’ll be there the first day back to pick it up...

Re: Oil shooting everywhere.

I’m guessing a bad pcv valve. I’ll replace it and see if it runs with the new one. I’ve never seen anything like this happen.

Re: Oil shooting everywhere.

Nope. Just checked the compression 160 plus per cylinder. I removed the hoses and cleaned everything up. I pulled the PCV valve and plugged the hose to the carb. It started up and ran fine. I drove it 250 miles with no problem. I’m stumped.

Oil shooting everywhere.

I tried starting my car. It was hard starting but did. It was smoking profusely and wouldn’t idle. I looked at the motor and oil had shot everywhere. It was being sprayed out of the hoses on the valve cover into the carb. I’m stumped. What could cause this?

Re: Situation... flooded float bowl & rough unsustainable idle after new pump/dizzy/starter

I have the same problem...my tercel will run fine with only the mechanical pump, but if I stop and turn it off, when I take off again it starves for fuel...I’ve pulled the tank and blown out the lines, etc...but the only solution has been an in line electric pump...I only have to use it for a minute...

Re: What is the average Idling gas consumption in a 3A engine?

Pretty easy to check...use a one liter container full of gas, disconnect the fuel line at the filter...stick it in the container and time how long it takes...half a liter would work too, if one liter takes too long.

Re: Leaky front end

I decided rather than make a tool out of pvc...it would be so much easier to turn a wooden one on my lathe...I’ve done this previously to make a clutch alignment tool...I’ll post pics when I get it done.

Re: Leaky front end

Thanks for the info, I’ve ordered two new seals and believe I can fabricate a tool out of pvc pipe...I’ll be so glad to be able to park anywhere without leaving a puddle.

Re: 80ish mph. Anyone else get er purring?

I was clocked at 101.8 at the Bonneville Salt Flats, fully loaded, windows up..I just could not pass Bonneville without stopping, I was lucky, some great guys were doing practice runs with a Flathead Ford and clocked me..I had about a 2 mile run up..
