Re: Differential compatability questions

do you notice any symptoms while driving, LBC? I've noticed lots of rotational play in probably all of the t4's I've had and wondered about it, but once I replaced all the worn front end stuff I didn't notice any clunks or anything like that. So I think it might be normal, or at least acceptable. I...

NWMO wrote: Wed Mar 08, 2023 6:33 pm It sounds like there may be excessive play in the front differential. This could be caused by wear or presumably a sloppy pinion shaft?

Chris
Is a sloppy pinion shaft the usual suspect for what I'm describing? (And if it is can it be fixed?)

Differential compatability questions

Hello again. Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but does anyone know how much, if any, parts compatibility there is between the front and rear differentials on our cars? The reason for asking is that my front diff seems to have excessive rotational play while in gear, and before tearing into it ...

Re: after many years, I'm finally back in the T4 game

Chris, I gave this some thought last night and decided that I will bypass the heater core and keep the car driveable for now. We plan on moving in the next couple years and I don't want to hand bomb a transmission, engine, doors, etc. It's kind of a shame because the new t4 needs a few parts that I...

Re: after many years, I'm finally back in the T4 game

If you do decide to part it out I've been on the hunt for the fuel sending lines from the gas tank for years now. You're on the island right? If so I'll be in your neck of the woods until the end of the month. Will travel for tercel parts haha.

I would be interested!

Hopefully they turn out okay, the image was very pixelated so the sticker had to be quite small.
Just bought 10 of them!
Let me know how they look when they arrive!

Re: rock auto not the cheapest option anymore?

I've been comparing prices between rock auto and parts avatar a lot, the beauty of parts avatar is that shipping is free over $50, so I got a gas tank through them for maybe 1/3 the cost of getting it shipped from rock auto. Their selection is much worse than rock auto however, and I have had to ret...

Oh my, this whole catalog is amazing

Especially this page... Gives one hope that someone, somewhere, has a tercel with some of these parts installed. I would love to see it in person.

Re: diesel chevette

Chevy has a long history with Isuzu, even the red blooded American staple the duramax is the result of the Isuzu/chev joint venture. I'll bet that chevette would be a sweet little car, especially with these gas prices.

Re: general winter/snow tire talk

I was a big fan of my 14" hankook ipike tires from crappy tire. They were about $50 each and performed admirably in the snow on my tercel, save for a sidewall bulge. No doubt from being a wannabe Colin McCrae. Also ran a 16" set on a 2005 matrix with no issues. Pretty decent inexpensive ti...
