Re: '84 WAGON REBUILD

Making longer trailing arms would be very simple if you trust your welding skills. Some solid 3/4" round bar with machined end "tubes" welded on both ends would probably be plenty strong enough. I don't think the stock trailing arms even have heim joints, but the addition of them would likely help a...

Re: 1999 4runner

The 3.4l v/6 is a much better engine than the 3.0 The 3.4 is a damn good engine, forged internals and lots of nice aluminum bits. Only thing to make it perfect would be a timing chain instead of a belt, but you can't always get what you want. The 3.0 gets a bad rap though, if you get around its cou...

Also, you most likely have the legendary 5vz-fe v6. Damn good engine. Even better supercharged ;)

Re: 1999 4runner

Usually people that do stream crossings and whatnot will relocate the differential breather(s) with tubes into the cab. This removes the chance for water to get into your axles, and subsequently makes it unlikely to rust shut. Or, you can get it working again, then remember to crawl under every few ...

Stock suspension angles, stock CV angles 5098dd1ca1334c992572cacf122821bb.jpg 92810071990120.jpg Terrible photos to compare, I can't even see the control arms in that dealer promo photo. I agree, Google failed me. However I am highly dubious of the claims that the lifted wagon is running stock cv a...

Re: Newbie

The Matrix AWD was never sold with a manual transmission, and was never sold with the 2zz. Which is a disappointment. the FWD matrix had manual transmissions available, and I thought the same drive train is in the Rav4, was that not available with a 5 speed? The Lotus Elise has a Toyota engine, gre...

Re: 1999 4runner

Check the rear diff breather. Always rusts shut, always blows out the axle seals, and then makes you wonder why your rear drums have oil in them.

Had that happen in a 2001 tacoma, then my friend's 1999 4runner did the exact same thing. It's a common and annoying little issue.

The Matrix AWD was never sold with a manual transmission, and was never sold with the 2zz. Which is a disappointment. A tercel hatch with that 2zz though... That would be a rocket. There are some cool hop up parts for that engine/transmission. Most notably a supercharger and a TRD limited slip diffe...

Re: Newbie

So I am new here, I just purchased an 85 Tercel, it isn't a wagon nor is it an manual or awd so I may be in the wrong place. But this forum seemed to be the only place to find information about the car so here I am. I have been doing some searching through posts and the popular topic seemed to be a...

Re: Snopocolypse Seattle: 2019

We have almost 2' of snow here. This was my first time trying the Rav4 in the snow aaaand... ...it's been awesome! Even better than my T4's and AE95's, probably due entirely to the ground clearance. I hoped I wouldn't be able to get out of our driveway to get to work but for better or worse, the Ra...

Just as a small note to this. I had an issue with the factory C/V axles rubbing after a 1.5" lift. I used some after market axles made by TrakMotive which had a much smaller diameter joint and allowed for much greater clearance.
Do you have a link to those aftermarket axles?

Re: Indian UTV Willies Jeep Clones?

I watched a video comparison of the Mahindra vs. a real Willies, and offroad, the Willys killed this thing. The Mahindra doesn't have the suspension flex the original does, and it's a heck of a lot heavier as well. They're built under license, so they're not really clones or knockoffs at all. All I...

Re: Indian UTV Willies Jeep Clones?

I imagine in some states you could street legalize one of these, apparently the top speed is electronically limited. Thats the biggest appeal of them I think. They're over 20 grand CAD, so they aren't very competitive in the UTV market. I'll stick with a tercel, and if the rock crawler bug hits me, ...
