Re: Stock vs. Weber

I've only had a Weber on my car and I've never had any carb problems. My gas mileage isn't great though, getting about 18 mpg but that's probably due to my 27 inch tires. 18 mpg would be terrible. 4.11 gearing should get high 20s, 3.73 gearing should get low 30s. Are you taking the size difference ...

ive had three wagons as well. you have to use the shorty air filter. the one that comes with the standard weber kit does not fit.

Re: Stock vs. Weber

I prefer the stock carb because where I live, we have cold humid winters, and the Weber is prone to icing during warm up in those conditions. I like the simplicity of the weber but there are some drawbacks like that. Also, the weber ends up being too tall for a lot of tercel's (not sure why it clea...

Re: Weber carburetor questions

your phenolic spacer is missing, which is bad. the spacer not only is used for the pcv connection, but its also used to prevent heat soak and vapor lock of the carb. ask around on the facebook page, someone should have one for sale. without seeing a video, you may be chasing a red herring with you t...

Re: 1980 Tercel 1AC engine swap to 4AGE

HELP I'm looking for a bit of direction with swapping out the 1A-C, replacing it with a 4A-GE. I've been told to get a 1987 or 88 Corolla FX16 or a 1990 Corolla GTS, both front wheel drive, as a donor vehicle. Positives: I've located a shop and mechanic that is willing to do the work. The mechanic ...

Re: Converting an auto trans to a stick shift - its possible!

The relay I photographed was under the kick panel near the fuse box. I honestly don't remember what it's function was anymore. Ah, I'll have to check the kick panel location next time I am at the parts car, thanks. No worries, I'll have another look through the forum info here - maybe its function ...

Re: Turbo 4age tercel

Looks crazy cool man, hope to see video of it running soon! Thanks! I just sent the computer off to a buddy to have it tested. If all checks out with it, I can move onto setting up the wiring loom for the engine. I bought both looms for the megasquirt ecu, so itll just be a matter of connecting all...

Re: Leaking differential?

its hard to tell wheres its leaking from those pics. honestly, that doesnt look like a whole lot. as long as its not leaving considerable amounts of oil on the ground, i wouldnt pay much attention to it. the second pic is the flexplate that goes between the engine and trans. theres a good chance tha...

Re: Converting an auto trans to a stick shift - its possible!

you have to jump the neutral safety switch on the car side harness for it to crank. i ended up cutting the plug off the trans and using that for my connections.

I ran a single wire up from the trans to the car harness for the reverse light as well.

Re: Converting an auto trans to a stick shift - its possible!

im not sure why you cut the trans tunnel out. i converted my auto 2dr to a manual, and everything bolted up. if the trans tunnel was different, then why did toyota include all the bolt holes for the manual pieces?

Re: Turbo 4age tercel

not much of an update, but got the IC plumbing finalized and the BOV installed. Not shown is the radiator installed. I had to massage each side of the radiator with a flap disc so the IC plumbing would fit and not rub against the radiator. The car may be put on a short term back burner soon -- i am ...
