Re: Transaxle install after transmission fix

No damage to tercel. Just lay out 8 or so tires for it to rest on, Transmission was missing 5th gear. Teeth turned out to be stripped. Support under hubs and door post where the body strength is. I drained the gas first. A lot easier to work on vs a lift where everything is over your head. I have a...

Re: Busted speedometer gear cable housing thing.

I've had a few speedo's out of the transmission but not often or recent enough to be able to tell exactly what I'm looking at in your pics. In any case, your best bet is to find a good used one. I would check the Facebook group, Luke Anthony there (he goes by MrWrench here but is more active on the...

Re: Leaking coolant

DO NOT USE RTV ON THAT TUBE. if its leaking after replacement either you used the wrong orings, you didnt clean the crust out of the holes, or your bypass tube is rotted.

front diff is unique to the tercels, and the rear is only shared with the sr5 ae86 corollas.

Re: Find hoses

ah yes, the pp hose. most of those have long since disintegrated. the part number is 17881-15050, though good luck trying to source a new one.

as for the exhaust to air cleaner, you can get universal ones based off the diameter of the pipes.

Re: Parts to save from an 89 coupe

Think it's time to send my parts car to the great scrapyard in the sky. The engine and transmission are both 90% metal shavings and the interior is pretty rank, but all the accessories and body are in great conditon. Anything worth keeping around? Willing to mail out smaller parts if folks pay for ...

Re: Blacktop 20v 4AGE In my Wagon

Well wanted to post an update. Today we dyno tested and tuned the wagon. It easily made 130whp like first pull at 6000rpm (im a bit scared to take it any higher for fear of the trans spinning too much and letting go) but it sounded mint at 6k I was super surprised, After this video we turned on the...

Re: Turbo 4age tercel

Well, good news. I choked down the price of new, quality hitachi coil packs, and i think that fixed my misfire. I've been driving it the last few days with the old packs, and once it warmed up the engine would not misfire. However, with the hitachi coils, there are no more misfires, even when dead c...

Here's a pic of the little beast. It looks pretty straight in the picture. It's not. It has plenty of dents. IMG_20240201_154641[1].jpg man, these look way better with the bumper installed. ive been wanting to tuck mine. ive mocked up the rear, just need to find a way to reinstall it to the metal s...

Re: Turbo 4age tercel

Mechanically the engine is okay (well, not really. theres a bunch of slop in the piston-to-cylinder due to the machine shop fucking up the bore -- not enough to cause piston slap, but more than there should be). I am still leaning towards this being an ecu issue, or a coil pack issue. No, I dont ha...

Re: Turbo 4age tercel

This might be a big issue or not. Could you swap spark plugs between cylinders 3 & 4 and injectors between cylinders 2 & 3? Then you could retest if the very same repeats or not in cylinder 3. this is a fairly big issue. parts within the ecu should not be burning out. i tried swapping injec...
