Re: Mr Heater propane heater in enclosed space?

Direct vent is the safest way to go, but more expensive. But then, what is your life and your families lives worth? This about the cheapest one I could find but the secont link is for the needed vent cap. There are others shown on this page as well if the direct vent unit doesn't come with one. The ...

Re: Interesting video of various car undercoating tests

Undercoating usually turns out to be counter-productive. It traps dirt and moisture, can block drain holes if not applied correctly, and contribute to more rust that you would have if you just leave it alone and clean the rockers and underside of the fenders periodically. Even if you don't block the...

Re: CR-V A/C fan runs intermittently, all the time

The AC button only lights up when it is pushed in, it does not light up just because the compressor is on. This is not always true. I have been in newer cars (like my mom's Rav4) where the light came on automatically when I adjusted the heat controls. I'm not sure if that's how my CR-V is supposed ...

Re: CR-V A/C fan runs intermittently, all the time

The AC button only lights up when it is pushed in, it does not light up just because the compressor is on. Kudus to splatterdog about the defrost, I didn't think about that. In cold weather, the freon will contract a little and the pressure will be a little lower. A recharge may fix the issue but be...

Re: CR-V A/C fan runs intermittently, all the time

There are either two or three relays in the under hood fuse fan and it is commanded on when ever the AC is on. It has nothing to do with the ECT and if the AC switch is on, that fan should run even with the engine dead cold. The other one (or two) are controlled by the ECT, one is for when the ECT g...

Re: charging a deep cycle trailer battery off the towing vehicle?

Right after charging any lead acid 6 cell battery, it may show up to 13.2 volts, but a small part of that is a capacitive charge on the surface of the plates. It usually bleeds off after a short time and the battery will read its open circuit charge of 12.6 volts. Your charge wire is pretty long and...

Re: 1985 4x4 Lifted Wagon

I would suggest that you try Ebay instead of CL. They have been bringing in good prices on ebay. I would put your "Buy now" price up around $4k though or even higher, or don't list one at all and let the bidding war start. These are bringing more money now due to their rarity. Good luck.

Re: 1983 Tercel 4WD wagon for sale. Louisiana

The front oil seal leak is a chronic problem on this model and easy to fix. I use a breaker bar with the right size socket on the front pulley bolt, wedge the breaker bar handle in the frame and hit the starter momentarily. The bolt comes off easy. An impact wrench also works. Remove the pulley and ...

Re: solar panel battery charging?

It will hold heat better than you might think. I would have recommended that you treat the 2x4's with a sodium borate solution like Timbor or Boracare before putting on the Tyvec. It is pretty harmless to humans but it resists most bugs and stops most wood decay. Because it is water soluable, you st...

Re: rad fan staying on after engine shut off, even in cold weather

In most vehicle today, if the fan is running when you shut down the engine, it will continue to run for about 10 minutes. It's based on a timer and not temperature. If the fan is coming on after shutdown, then either the coolant temp sensor is going bad or you actually have an overheating issue and ...

splatterdog, your link has a major issue. It doesn't say whether it used the Subaru conditioner or some aftermarket stop leak. It also does not say when it was added or how much. The Subaru conditioner is a liquid that remains liquid until it exceed some high temperature, 1800F if I recall correctly...
