Re: Rear view mirror repair - 1986 tercel wagon
It's simply attached to the ceiling with a couple of screws if I remember correctly? I went to take a photo for you just now but started to remove the plastic trim piece that covers said screws and the plate, and the edges began to crumble so abandoned that process!

Re: "Toyster½shell" 1985 Tercel 4WD SR5
they are cheap enough, I do not know why you would want to try and make one [...] I would not do it unless you were stuck with no way to get a replacement cable. Right, I was thinking that the ability to swap in generic cable might be an inexpensive backup in the unlikely event that the clutch cabl...

Re: "Toyster½shell" 1985 Tercel 4WD SR5
Knocked all that gunk off with the pressure washer and got a hose adapter for my sink faucet so I can do it at home. Nice shiny Toyster: cleanterc.jpg I was driving yesterday, heard a thunk and the clutch got floppy. Clutch cable snapped (actually it is actually still partially attached but frayed)....
Re: Oops!
Nice work! When the grid crashes, the zombies are running wild, and we all sail madly into dystopian apocalypse, I plan on living in my very own castle comprised of dead car parts and various other miscellaneous scavenged scrap. When my two ton drawbridge inevitably falls over, I'm hiring you to rig...

Re: "Toyster½shell" 1985 Tercel 4WD SR5
That's a really good idea about the ramps, I found some on Craigslist for cheap that I might buy this week. I do have a pressure washer and could probably hunt down a really long hose to run warm water from the laundry spigot in the basement all the way outside. Wheel wells and exterior would be eas...

"Toyster½shell" 1985 Tercel 4WD SR5
ne-sunset02.jpg My first T4WD! Picked her up a month ago in Idaho, she is my daily driver. 1985 SR5 model with 231K on the odo. I had winter tires installed last week on the 13" wheels. I went with the Nokian Hakkapeliita R2 in 175-70R13 and have been impressed so far with them. Just in time f...

Re: Headlight Relay Harness Upgrade
Dang, those look pretty sweet. They appear to be the Truck-Lite 27450C (forgive me if I am incorrect).
I ordered the AutoPal lights & relays mentioned upthread and received earlier this week. Still need to order TXL wire (14ga & 16ga), I was wondering how much/what lengths to get?

Re: Had a Previa. Want a Tercel4WD!
Our journey began to draw to a close with another orchestra of the sky back in my home state. ne-sunset01.jpg ne-sunset02.jpg And so we made it home a few hours later, weary but triumphant and feeling very blessed. Somewhere on our return trip the name of my car came to me. She is called Toyster ½sh...

Re: Had a Previa. Want a Tercel4WD!
And so we left Boise that afternoon and drove long into the night, running into some intense wind and rain in the mountains just northeast of SLC. Nothing too severe, but negotiating blowing tumbleweeds and wet weather with headlights in the T4 that weren't aimed well and aren't exactly the brightes...

Re: Had a Previa. Want a Tercel4WD!
I have read a number of comments here and there about the Tercel4WD being an underpowered slowpoke...first impression upon getting behind the wheel was that compared to the Previa that was my daily driver for 4 years (and felt kind of like driving a big old tugboat), this car has plenty of torque an...

Re: Had a Previa. Want a Tercel4WD!
We woke up the next morning, made a stop at Wells Fargo to withdraw cash for the car purchase, and pushed on up I-15 to I-84. Next stop: Nampa, ID and the T4! A nice shot that Ben took of our first glimpse and meeting Mark the seller. markshouse.jpg Did the obligatory look-sees under the hood... hoo...

Re: Had a Previa. Want a Tercel4WD!
What a trip. Four days, 2500 miles, new friends, countless blessings and a crucially deep well of coffee brought the old girl home with me safely... *¯`•.☽☆☾¸.•´¯*¯`•.☽☆☾¸.•´¯*¯`•.☽☆☾¸.•´¯*¯`•.☽☆☾¸.•´¯*¯`•.☽☆☾¸.•´¯* After a Tetris game of strategically packing tools, guitars, mandolins and other odd...

Re: Had a Previa. Want a Tercel4WD!
Picking this baby up next weekend! A friend and I are driving out - we're leaving Omaha on Thursday, taking I-80 to Salt Lake, then north on I-84. I'll be in Boise on Saturday and Sunday, then heading back in the Tercel on that same route. Just checked the 10 day forecast along the way and at least ...
