Re: '84 metallic orange/plaid 80's radness!
Kevin: Thanks for pointing me to the photos. You have done a nice job of restoration. Hope to see future photos. I may get down to Stockton Lake for one of their sailboat "messabouts" in July, September or October. If I get down that way, I should come by and see the old Tercel. I built a ...

1984 Tercel 4wd wagon manual for sale $500
This car is in a shed on my farm near Owensville, MO. The carburetor was rebuilt by an usually competent shop out in the country. He rebuilds mostly pickup truck carbs and could never get this one figured out. I got it back from him last year and replaced the fuel filter & several leaky vacuum h...

Re: Asian A3 Carburetor
Thanks for the comments. As the weather gets a little warmer and I can work outside, I will again check the source of the carburetor fuel dripping. Also, I will adjust the fast idle screw as shown in the instruction manual. The car has only about 115,000 miles on it and the engine and transmission s...

Re: Asian A3 Carburetor
Thanks to encouragement from ARCHINSTL and Petros, I did persevere and put in a new fuel filter and replaced one cracked vacuum line and got the engine running. Still idles too fast at about 1200 RPM, so I need to work on that . Now I see a more pressing problem and this is that gasoline appears to ...

Re: Carb leaking?
I just posted a reply on my A3 carburetor repair problems. Also have a slight leak of fuel from the carb. Mine sees to be coming from the sight glass. If the glass window and oring are still available,I should probably replace them.

Re: Asian A3 Carburetor
I finally did bite the bullet and installed a new fuel filter and while in there replaced a cracked vacuum hose; the 2nd one down on the TVSV. The manual shows it as "M", which apparently operates the choke opener diaphragm. The result was that the engine decided to run, albeit at a rather...

ARCHINSTLOUIS:
I just saw your note today October 26th. Thanks again for your offer. If I can come up with a service manual, I will try to tinker a bit and see if I can get the car running better.

Re: Asian A3 Carburetor
Petros: Thanks for your input. My mechanic probably did a good job in rebuilding the carb. However, as you say, he probably did not understand the intricacies of the A3 design and did not get some of the various vacuum lines, etc. connected up correctly. I will do as you suggest and download the Ter...

Re: Asian A3 Carburetor
Attn: Tom M. at ARCHINSTL. Tom: Now that the heat here has subsided, I am planning to get back out to the farm and check out the Tercel. I could accept your offer and put the car on a trailer and bring it to to try and figure out the carb problem. However, unless you are in the auto repair business,...

Re: Asian A3 Carburetor
Guys: Thanks for all of the thoughts and advice. If the car were here at my home, I would work on it. However, being as it is 65 miles away at our farm, I think that I will put it up for sale. I believe that it has only about 115, 00 miles on it but that I will have to check. The engine and transmis...

Re: Asian A3 Carburetor
Thanks guys for the various suggestions. I guess that I was hoping that the old Tercel would be much like my old 1948 Ferguson tractor. I go out there and put the ignition key in and often forget to pull the choke out; push the starter and she coughs & sputters, blows blue smoke for a few minute...

Re: Asian A3 Carburetor
Tom M: I am the one who lives in Creve Coeur. I would be delighted to have you look at my Tercel except that it is located at our farm in Gasconade County. It is not licensed or insured, so I cannot drive it off of the farm. I would have to put it on a trailer and bring it in. I bought the car proba...

Asian A3 Carburetor
I own a 1984 Tercel 4WD stick shift wagon which I took to a repair shop to have the carb rebuilt. Normally, this shop is supposed to be quite capable in rebuilding carbs, auto transmissions, etc. Although, I doubt that they have much Toyota repair experience and mostly work on pick-up trucks. Howeve...
