Road Noise

"Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise" says Xirdneh. I was driving my wife's Rav4 last weekend as I needed to use the trailer. Apart from the extra 58kw of power, I noticed that it wasn't as noisy as the Tercel in terms of road noise, especially from the back....

Re: tvsv needed

Can you glue it back together with plastic compatible superglue and then secure it with Knead it compound. Mine wasn't broken, but I heard of many stories of the TVSV breaking easily by accident. So as a precaution

Re: Sway bar end bushings?

BaileySims - I was able to buy the bushing from Toyota here. The bush is pressed fit, so I had to use a slide hammer with internal claw attachments to get it out. You can get to it internally by moving the rack towards the driver's side once you remove the passenger side inner tie rod. I too did the...

Re: Sway bar end bushings?

I replaced that steering bush on my Tercel a few months ago and the clunk disappeared. It was very hard getting the bush out. In the end I had to take the whole rack out (manual steering), but it was worth it.

That is brilliant. Hope you didn't leave the rest of the bottle in your car. Missus/girlfriend might get suspicious.

Re: video on replacing your blinker fluid

They should put dipsticks at the back of the blinkers to make checking the levels easier and use the dipstick holes to facilitate filling like auto transmission.

Re: Broken TVSV

Just my 2 cents worth - seeing that the TVSV is easily knocked broken, would it be worth reinforcing the joint with some 2 parts epoxy such as Knead it to protect it from breaking in future as a precaution?

Re: 555555.5 km

You learn a lot on this site and not just about the Tercel, for examle, I like it when you guys put your locations in your profile. I get to check it out and learn more about places I've never heard of.

Re: 555555.5 km

I didn't realise you guys in Canada use Kms. Do you use litres as well or US/imperial gallon? Jim, have you done a compression test on the engine cylinders lately. Just wondering what sort of figures you get on an engine that's done that many kms, especially in your cold climate.

Re: Does anyone miss any of their exes?

You are right the new Rav4 is big and ugly. The Suzuki SX4 AWD is still available here. We do not get the AWD Yaris either.

Re: Does anyone miss any of their exes?

Sorry Terceldude, I didn't mean to take over your thread. Dan is correct. That thing on the valve cover is some sort of thermostatic vacuum control. It has an inlet and outlet ports. The single vacuum advance canister on the original points distributor used to be connected to the outlet port. The in...

Re: Does anyone miss any of their exes?

There's a reason why I added the photo of the engine compartment. For some unknown reason (to me) Toyota decided to add a component that I haven't seen in any of the photos on this or other sites 3AC or 4AC. The only alteration I've done to the engine is replaced the points distributor with an elect...

Re: Does anyone miss any of their exes?

Unlike some of you guys, I've only ever owned one Tercel and she's been very good to me for the last 32 (almost) years. So we are still going strong together. I'm not a very fussy person. I don't mind her boxy look
