Re: 85 toyota tercel 4wd in ABQ

The car will run, but I won't take it beyond the driveway. It's on two cylinders, so hills, speed bumps etc will hinder any significant travel. I'm open to negotiating price, but 200 seems a bit low considering I have promised 150 in new parts to accompany the car. I really don't want to crush this ...

Any last chance bids on this thing. If not, it's getting picked up this week to go bye bye.

Re: 85 toyota tercel 4wd in ABQ

Here are some pics. According to the write up on here, the repair would take me more than an afternoon, regardless I have yet to be able to make time for it. I was really hoping someone would want a project and keep this thing out of the scrap yard. I might tear into it this Saturday if the weather ...

85 toyota tercel 4wd in ABQ

Hey everyone,I have an 85 tercel sr5 wagon for sale. I got this thing not running and rebuilt the carb, and put another distributor on it. It runs but the compression of cyl 1&2 is non existent. It still starts, and runs, and doesn't smoke, but doesn't have enough power to get out of its own way. I ...

Re: Debating rebuild vs used engine

Thanks for the replies, it's good to hear from experience before I jump too deep into it. Unless the guy with the engine produces better evidence as to the condition of his engine, I think Im going to replace the head gasket, thermostat, and timing belt. Also adding restore and seafoam along the way...

Re: Debating rebuild vs used engine

Yeah I have trust issues with used engines too.So far I've only found 1, the guy is a mech shop owner and claims it's an LKQ engine and trans he bought for a customer that fell through. I also want to believe it'll do OK with a head gasket as it doesn't throw a lot of smoke, or burn oil.(some white ...

Debating rebuild vs used engine

First I'd like to thank you guys for all the great info and videos on this site. My project (Yoda) an 85 tercel 4wd sr5 I purchased a little while back is giving me trouble with its revival. I bought it becausei need a 4wd every once in a while and it seemed like a fun candidate. The car is in relat...

Re: Craigslist special in NM

That's interesting, I thought any decent bill of sale would have the original sellers info. As long as he turns up the vin, everything can be sorted out. And as far as it being stolen.... I doubt any capable thief would bother trying to sell a broke down and stolen car on CL. Normally they'd just ab...

a timing belt and missing title are both easy fixes. well worth the $600.
Thanks, and I agree. I hope it goes into more capable hands than the current owner.
