I had a simmilar problem with my old tercel, and I changing the pcv valve helped a bit. Cheap five dollar part - YAY! The car had so many other problems though that I'm not certatin that was the real problem - exhaust manifold leaking into the engine compartment so that the car was breathing it's ...

Hey, that's my car! Well, except that mine is lefty drive, and it just passed the 400k mark last week. :P Okay, mine has a bunch more rust too ;) . Still getting over 30 mpg'ish, starts and runs great, and does 140+ kph easily when I want it to.

BTW, I still have my old white 86sr5 sitting behind ...

I only gave the guy $235 (Cdn) for it four years ago, so I sure got my money's worth. Now, after years of doing nearly no maintenance (yes, I am a bad person) she is finally giving up the ghost.

Problems:
1. cv joints barely hanging on
2. brake cylinder shot
3. big leak in exhaust manifold
4. head ...
