Re: Car eating fuel pumps - things to check?
I have had good luck with Carter pumps, although I have always bought electric rotary pumps from them (made in the usa). Mech pumps from the parts store are junk and have been for a very long time now; if you get many miles or years out of them, you are simply lucky. A quality rotary pump or mechani...

@ Yaut: Vinegar flush of both the radiator and heater core! https://tercel4wd.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=10496&hilit=vinegar Straight hose water? Hopefully no cracked head, blown gasket, etc. I did a double vinegar/distilled flush on mine heater core open, distilled flush, then filled i...

Re: 1985 4WD Deluxe
Hey, Welcome fellow Missourian! Where/when did you buy the T4WD? There was someone on here in January of 2018, offering 3 T4WDs. He claimed he lived in Carter County off US 60, deep in one segment of the Mark Twain National Forest. He never followed up on the results of his For Sale email. https://...

Re: 1984 Euro Tercel 4WD Wagon
Very nice looking Tercel, love the interior/exterior color combo, and what a gorgeous interior! First gen MR2 wheels are the perfect era-correct upgrade, IMO. Also dig the stickers on the Land Cruiser, the sea blue/white 21w in the background...I have owned around 50 split windows in my day ;). My f...

...by 'yeild' the sheet metal, push it up and put a few very small dings with a bodywork hammer and it should hold. Test by trying to push it back down, lightly. Otherwise yes, the metal needs shrunk, which means re-paint.

Re: Fixing Up Jenny
Easiest way to check for vacuum leaks is to spray every joint and gasket on the intake with carburetor cleaner (use the extension hose so its very specific to the location and keep it out of the air cleaner). It will either lower or rev up where the issue is, if any. Don't imagine things, it will be...

Re: '84 metallic orange/plaid 80's radness!
Driving around town, I can keep up with traffic. Still peppy with a healthy engine and fun to drive, although I think jumping up any more sizes will lose the fun, especially with the 3.7 gear ratio in these early models... '85 and up should be able to push it a bit more? I also don't live high-altit...

Re: '84 metallic orange/plaid 80's radness!
I chose 185 75R14's for stock height. Got these Winterforce off of Ebay for a great price...small tires with good tread are getting more and more difficult to find. Wish General Grabbers made a small size or Kelly/Springfield like back in the day, but definitely like 'em: heavy duty without being he...

Re: '84 metallic orange/plaid 80's radness!
I am now daily driving this sweet little car! Replaced a brake line due to rust, bled the brakes, drained all the fluids in the trans and rear diff(thanks to Robert Walker for the detailed transmission info---keep that fluid fresh and full up), and also did a Weber conversion. Car starts and runs li...

Re: '84 metallic orange/plaid 80's radness!
No worries, ya'll. Generally speaking, rust and neglect kills cars. Of course, there are the few that will abuse a nice car and toss it aside, but I am not one of those folks, and I suspect nearly all on here are not, Gambler or not. Xtra cab is my truck, see the first pic. Rear quarter window is ne...

Re: The Definitive List of Ways to Lift a Tercel 4wd
I'm lifting later down the road and was looking to get rid of the rubber band tires on it at the moment. I can see the issue arising near full steering lock using just a tape measure. I'll probably do some 185 75R14 snow tires to fill the wheel arches up for now...thanks for the info!

Geez, please start your own forum topic where you whine about the gambler and what everyone should or should not do with their cars instead of hijacking mine or others. This thread is about my build, which has nothing to do with the gambler...
