Forgot to mention before I did valve stem seals I did a dry compression test and got 155 on all 4 pots so eliminates any fear I had about rings.

No more smoking and the car no longer reeks of petrol when I turn it off. Starts easier and with all the above a much nicer car to drive.

Well i bought some valve stem seals and a compressor just waiting for them to arrive. I think i fixed the problem though as i installed a low pressure electronic fuel pump and i think the old mechanical fuel pump was weeping into the rocker cover causing various problems. I am waiting on a new pcv v...

i have chucked some seafoam type treatment twice now. Second time i sprayed it right in the barrel and let it sit for ages. Even cranked the motor with the plug caps off to circulate it.

If it was rings would it not smoke more often
