Re: A Sad Day for Scuffles...Engine Fire
Thanks for the words of wisdom, everyone. Part out and salvage it is. I've been looking for a 2nd Gen in the area, but haven't come up with much less than $1k. Option A: you buy my 81, and swap over the interior and eventually your long block engine/transmission, I'd be interested in whichever engin...

Re: A Sad Day for Scuffles...Engine Fire
   What a bummer so sorry your baby got burned. How comfortable are you with wiring? Not a very complicated wiring job under the engine bay! You will certainly appreciate your car more if you tackle the job yourself. Love the optimism around here! Haven't done too much wiring, but I ...

A Sad Day for Scuffles...Engine Fire
Well, yesterday was a sad day for Scuffles. I was backing her up when I heard what sounded like a backfire, and the engine stalled. Hopped out of the car and saw some flames behind the radiator. I only had a little fire extinguisher on me, and didn't want to open up the hood in fear of pouring in mo...

Re: Flexplate to Torque Converter Bolts
I do not recall on the auto trans, but I seem to remember they were 12mm just like the clutch cover bolts. they are high strength bolts (hardened steel), not your normal mild steel as used on most other location. So if you find replacements make sure they are high strength bolts. if you can not fin...

Flexplate to Torque Converter Bolts
Hi,
Stripped out two of the bolts connecting the flexplate to the torque converter. Anybody know of a part number or where I can find these?
Thanks!
A.J.

Re: Weber Universal Throttle Linkage
oh, crazy. well, if i could go back to when i had a weber, i would just start the car on cold mornings and let it run for a few mins while i was getting ready to leave, shut it off for 5 or 10 mins, and then start it back up when i was ready to go. a friend into motorcycles said that's what he used...

Re: Weber Universal Throttle Linkage
"D-Uh!" said Tom as he noticed your avatar and smacked his forehead... Gen I v. Gen II, obviously the hoods are different. It's always the most obvious things! I think I will go the u-bracket route, seems to be the cleanest option. Thanks for the silicone lube advice too. I'll let you kno...

Re: Weber Universal Throttle Linkage
Tom- No problems with the hood clearance! I saw the issues you ran into, and had my fingers crossed that I would be okay. I even kept the phenolic spacer too. Who knows why it worked for me but not for you. I do have a 1st gen, so maybe there was some difference in the hood design? I talked to Carbs...

Re: Weber Universal Throttle Linkage
Although, now that I think about it, it would be kind of nice to be able to undo whatever changes I'm making now. U-bracket, here I come!

Re: Weber Universal Throttle Linkage
Thanks for the replies! I think I'll probably go your route dlb, I don't have a welder and had gotten a little scared away from that technique. Tom, I meant to reply to you on the other thread--I realized that my kit came with the universal linkage, not the u-bracket, and just wanted to see if I cou...

Weber Universal Throttle Linkage
Hey all, Made the weber swap, and things are looking good, except I can't figure out this universal linkage kit for the life of me (part no 99007.116). I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I'm just not seeing it! Has anyone else used this linkage? I didn't much luck with a search. http://i.imgur.com/bCH...

Re: Yet another Weber install...
ARCHINSTL, thanks for the great photos--they've really been a help. Where'd you get that Weber U-bracket? It looks like a perfect solution, but my kit doesn't have one.
