Re: Power steering pump misfit to pressure hose

Yep, you got it. Fully tightened, the line still can move around. I think the flare fitting is a M16 1.5. I'll see what they have around me. I've picked up one of these re-manned pumps off of rockauto before and didn't have an issue with the fitting. Same exact part number, too.

Power steering pump misfit to pressure hose

I got a new cardone power steering pump from rockauto. The threads on the power steering pump are shorter than the threads on the pressure hose nut making it so the line cannot be fully tightened down and there is no way to prevent leakage. I thought about cutting and re-flaring the power steering l...

Re: De-gouging/resurfacing the block

I can feel it with my finger nail. Don't have a fine enough gauge to get a number on that. I've done a bit of sanding and managed to get the sides of the gouge out without too much effort. Some other auto forums were mentioning filling it in with copper paint, but my impression is that is for uncoat...

Re: De-gouging/resurfacing the block

Thanks, folks. I'm re-inspired to tackle this project now! Now my only problem is finding 400 wet-dry sand paper in town. Home Depot is pretty much the only game in town and their sand paper selection is strangely limited. Then again, I can never really find exactly what I need there.

De-gouging/resurfacing the block

Hi all, I had an incident when replacing the head gasket where I got a caught an edge on my chisel and ended up putting in some decent gouges right next to the first cylinder on the block. Since I've never done this before and the idea of pulling the block is pretty intimidating, I'm wondering if I ...

Re: $300 4wd 85 wagon Boise

Knowing my track record, that would take me a double the time, at least. Tempting to let it sit around until my schedule is less crazy and the weather warms up a bit. I'll try to take a look at it this weekend.

$300 4wd 85 wagon Boise

Ad says bad compression on one of the cylinders. If I can figure out how to get it to my house and get the OK from my landlord, I may be able to hold this for someone.

Power steering pressure hose leak

N00B question, but I replaced my power steering pump with a reman and now I can't get it to stop leaking at the connection to the pressure hose. No O-rings or anything else came out to my knowledge, and I've tightened it prettty prettty good. Still, I get a steady drip. The manual shows a little tur...

WTB: Passenger mirror

Had a run in with a horse a few nights ago. Luckily it only took my mirror! I guess I'm now looking to buy a passenger mirror if anyone has an 84 one sitting around. Checked with someone on the Facebook group and it looks like different years may not all be the same.

Re: My leaking tercel

Got the input shaft and selector seals at oreilly today. Thanks for all the info, folks. I'm going to tackle my front suspension first and let you all know how the seal replacements go. I went ahead and got one of those seal puller Archinstl recommended.

My leaking tercel

I'm about to make a big move in a month in my tercel and my car seems to be slowly crapping out. There are two main areas of concern: Power steering went out About a week ago my power steering seemed to stop functioning. I know a lot of you have deleted this, but I haven't enjoyed the virtual non-po...
