Electric conversion kits?
Has anyone found a company advertising their kit to "electrify" a Tercel? I have a 2WD '87 wagon that I plan to get back on the road & commute back & forth to work. Seems like my 2WD would be an easier conversion than 4WD, but after searching the internet, I only see generic kits t...

Re: locked rear wheels
Thanks to everyone! Success! Soaked the drum/backing plate "seam", wheel stud holes, and hub center in transmission fluid multiple times. Let it soak a few days. So between the sledge hammer & screwing heavy-duty Philips screws into the drum holes (too tiny for any body bolts), I have ...

Re: locked rear wheels
Thanks, dlb. I ordered the three cables from RockAuto. Not bad for $21.57 delivered! I cut the right rear cable, but still no drum rotation. Also tried a sledgehammer & a propane torch. Looks like I need to source replacement assemblies from a donor 2WD. Gonna research upgrade options, too, but ...

Re: locked rear wheels
Trying your ATF suggestion today, Petros. Soaked the drum-to-backing-plate areas. I'll reapply several times, and hopefully have an update in a few days. By the way, I agree all the rear drum parts are affordable & easily attainable, except for the parking brake cables. What sellers I have found...

Re: locked rear wheels
Thanks for the suggestions. Tried the big hammer method, but no luck. Looks like I'll have to rebuild the rear brakes ahead of schedule just to get the chassis to roll, before even thinking about the motor. Let's see.... PB Blaster, crowbar, muscles, & patience. LOTS of patience...

locked rear wheels
1987 Tercel 2WD wagon. Sitting for 2 years. Ready to install a rebuilt motor & need to roll it into the driveway. Won't budge! Jacked up the front end, wheels turn smoothly. Jacked up rear end, both wheels locked up. Parking brake lever raises & lowers normally. Shop manual has zero info on ...

Adding air bags? Possible/practical???
OK, I know this is a longshot, but since I would like to return my '87 2WD wagon to commuter vehicle status soon, I got to thinking... I love the 36 mpg economy, but other than front disc brakes and seatbelts, the safety factor in thick, fast-moving traffic is a concern. Has anyone heard of a way to...

Re: Fuel door question
THANKS for the info! Now I know for sure that sweet pale-yellow wagon I've spotted parked behind a house for the last several months is a 4WD, even without being close enough to see the emblems. Wish me luck when Uncle Sam's refund check arrives...

Fuel door question
Quick question for you Tercel wagon guru's concerning the gas filler door... My '87 2WD has it on the driver's side, but I just spotted another wagon with the filler door on the passenger side. Was the side of the wagon with the gas filler door an indicator of the year model, or if a wagon is 2WD or...
