Re: some advice for an amature. catalytic converter
Okay thank you guys. I ended up taking it to a mechanic cause the carburator was out of my league. The vaccums checked out, and he did work on the carb making it run much richer and taking the studder out of it. The smoke is blue, which is. good news. A leaky valve stem. I will have to research and ...

Re: some advice for an amature. catalytic converter
Okay thanks guys. It has a real smokey start but then goes away after a couple minutes, is there anyway that info could help lead me to the clogged hose/leaky vacuum?

Re: some advice for an amature. catalytic converter
The quick fix is pulling out the old cat and throwing in a new one. I have done everything I know to try and stop the rough idle/wanting to die at stop lights problem. Fuel filter, plugs and wires, O2 sensor, air filter. I finally just got the oil light off by replacing the oil preasure sensor ...

some advice for an amature. catalytic converter
So I thought this was going to be a super quick fix after reading my service manual which explained 4 bolts and that's it. But when I jacked it up and wrenched on I broke two of the heads. Is there a secret to getting them out. Can I punch them through or is the connection threaded also? Its a bit ...

Selling 84 Automatic DLX 4X4 Wagon $2000
Unfortunately I am moving to Maine from South Lake Tahoe, CA. My girlfriend has the better car for the trip, so I am selling mine. It is an automatic 4X4 with almost 135k. It runs great. Since I bought it I have done lots of work to it. So far I have put in a new thermostat, alternator, battery ...

Re: Replacing belts
Okay so I replaced the alternator and belts.. Put everything back in place. Jump started the car let it run for a minute. Seemed as though everything went perfect, used a voltmeter and the alternator seemed to be working. Put the car in gear and went for a drive down the hwy.
After about 2 1/2 ...

Replacing belts
This is meant to be the simplest of jobs which makes it embarrassing to ask. The drive belt is obviously straight forward, Loosen the alternator. But in order to get that belt off I need to remove the one in front of it which is the one powering the rest of the pulleys from the engine block. Do I ...

Re: Rough start and Overheating on long hills?
Thanks guys. I just replaced the fuel filter, and that was most definitely the problem. After putting some gas in the carb and jumping it, it ran great. I couldn't even blow air through the old one, can't believe it even started before. Now I am going to have to go back to yesterdays project and fix ...

Re: Rough start and Overheating on long hills?
Okay so the teaspoon of gas made it start right up but then it immediately dies. I am assuming it just isn't getting any fuel.
