The C indicates a california spec emissions system for the year of the engine.

It may or may not have a cat, depending on the time of implementation.

U is for the japanese spec emissions package.

Its gotta be better than a 3AC!

If you want to make your life easier you could always use a 4AFC.

If you can get the plastic cover off of the front of the odo you can always just wind it forward manually. Even if the number you are after is less than the one showing you are better off clocking it as they are designed to go forwards and not back.

As you can see the engine is in. The car has also been stripped quite a bit and the windscreen has been removed due to there being rust around the edge of it that I have to repair.

I did a little more bogging and sanding today but work ...

I'd be very interested in a RWD manifold - as long as shipping isnt going to cost me an arm and a leg. Can you get an estimate to south australia (post code 5000)?

Aside from stripping and sanding there hasnt been much progress made on the tercel for the last fwe weeks. Mostly because work has been crazy busy (50 - 75 hours a week for the last 4 weeks).

2 very important things have happened in the last 24 hours though - I managed to secure a few days off, and ...

Trolley jack works a treat. Well worth having one around the house anyway. Scissor jacks suck, especially the one that came with my MR2 (the handle is made of 2 parts and is gauranteed to fall apart at the most inopportune time causing you to skin your knuckles on the ground).

Hahaha Cool.

I still don't see the point on spending $500 on a 4AC though :P

If you look around you should be able to find a 4AC for free (at least they are just about a giveaway item here in Australia).

Externally they are basically identical to the 3AC but have a slightly larger displacement (1.6 vs 1.5) and are a lot more common.

Provided you have a way of lifting it ...

Ute is Australian slang for a utility vehicle - basically a combination of the front half of a car and a trailer. You might call them trucks or pickups in the US and elsewhere.

The main difference between a pickup and a Ute proper is that the tray of the Ute is integrated in to the cab forming a ...

Unless you can find one really cheaply I simply wouldn't bother with a recon 4AC. The engines are so common and so cheap that your best bet would be to give a potential secondhand one a quick compression and leakdown test. Provided that the numbers that came back were in specification then you can ...

I would suggest that it probably needs to have it's injectors cleaned and or replaced. They don't like sitting too much. A new fuel filter would probably help.

I own 1 and a half AW11s and I agree that they are great fun cars and quite reliable but parts are hard to find and expensive at times. You ...

You will need to swap over the sump and the engine mounts. Pretty much everthing should bolt off the old 3AC and straight on to the 4AC. Aside from a different bore and stroke they are pretty much the same engine.

Make sure that you use a decent non-hardening sealant on the sump, unless you want it ...
