Re: T4wd for sale on another forum I'm on...
Hi Tom M, yes this is the other Tom M in STL. I'm trying to reduce my fleet of cars, and unfortunately something's gotta go. But if it doesn't sell, I won't be heartbroken. Awesome winter car, and just rusty enough (despite my non-professional bodywork efforts) to not worry about it. For whomever it...

Re: Cargo Capacity
Weight ratings tend to be conservative. I had a Subaru Loyale 1.8L 4WD wagon that I hauled a loaded trailer from OR to DC, over the Rockies even. About 1000 lbs in the car and 2000 lbs worth of trailer. No problems--although I was in first gear near Vail, CO, summiting the Rockies!

Around here, they squirt potato juice on the roads when ice is in the forecast. It works or the initial ice, but in a prolonged ice storm, they have to revert to salt. Lol, I'm picturing some guy in the back of a pickup squeezing potatoes over the road! Salt in TN? I guess in the mountains ma...

Re: 86 sr5 4wd tercel wagon 6spd manual for sale-St. Louis A
Walked into my local Advance Auto to pick up something. One of the counter guys whom I know slightly came in a few minutes later and asked how much I want for my T4. Which I just picked up five weeks ago. Not selling. I would not be surprised if this happens on a somewhat regular basis. I've been dr...

Right, in OR the plates go with the car when you sell it.irowiki wrote:Vehicle registration, some states let you transfer plates from owner to owner I think?
Going to call him anyway, $200 to fly out, $200 in gas back, $100 in incidentals, not a bad price...

Re: T4 rear bearing diagnosis
That is interesting. Lends further evidence that my pass. side bearing is bad. Might jump into it after all, before it gets cold.

One thing you can do is build a cheap airdam to attach to the front bumper area. I built two out of aluminum mesh gutter-guard stuff and duct tape. They extend down another 5" below the bumper on both cars. Held to the car with L-brackets, stainless screws, and stainless Nylock nuts. Total cost...

Re: T4 rear bearing diagnosis
Yesterday I went to Lowe's and bought a roll of foam rubber to put under carpets (6'x9', $30). Used it to fill the cavities under the rear seat, and in the areas behind the rear wheelwells. I also put a layer under the carpeting in the trunk area. Today I took it out for a drive, and it is definitel...

Re: Beck Arnley Clutch Kit from RockAuto
I have had issues with Rock Auto, but still use them because they are mostly good. Once I got a tie rod end that was obviously used! I called them and they immediately sent out a new one. Other times I won't get a small part that should be there, like the top nut on a strut for example. Just bought ...

Could just have broken. My Aspire has had three speedos due to them crapping out, but all the changes were documented mileage-wise, so I still know what the mileage is on the car and motor. The tripmeter on my T4 isn't working, for instance. It happens.

Re: T4 rear bearing diagnosis
Yeah, I did this to my Festiva, which used to be noisy and is now pretty quiet. It occurred to me that the cavity bwtween the outer skin and the inner plastic is basically a drum; same with the space under the rear seat. No carpet or insulation there at all, at least in mine.

Re: T4 rear bearing diagnosis
I am going to try putting some filler material under the rear pass. seat, and in the walls between the interior plastic and the metal body. I'll bet that will help a lot.

Re: T4 rear bearing diagnosis
I was thinking along these same lines, keith. Went out today and did what Petros suggested, turned the axles while pushing down. Both sides were nice and smooth. Maybe my axles are OK after all. Lots of road noise, which I have difficulty believing is the tires (used Kumho Solus KR21s, with decent t...

Thanks Petros, I suspected that was the case--i.e., not necessary.

Re: New member from Vancouver!
Welcome to the forum! I'm pretty new here too. You could be having probs with your tires, steering components or alignment. How are you at doing repairs yourself? Installing outer tie rods is no big deal, and a decent alignment can be done with a piece of string. You can inspect your tires for issue...
