Re: Little 1984 Tercel, deep snow achilles heel

I really like that all aluminum radiator. The one I already put in is going to have to do though.

Re: Little 1984 Tercel, deep snow achilles heel

I keep a very close eye on temps. I know the healthy area for this car. What is the "healthy" temp range for the tercel? I put in a 185F thermostat to get better heat in winter. The temp gauge sits around the top of the thermometer symbol. Does that seem ok? My gauge rides just beneath th...

Re: Little 1984 Tercel, deep snow achilles heel

My gauge rides just beneath the thermometer diagram. For me, 180 thermostat is the sweetspot in all my old toyotas. Never over 180. I still get excellent heat for winter. I like this range. My Tercel climbs from 4700 to 8000 to 6000 feet and back on every day that I expect weather. It never shows a ...

Re: Little 1984 Tercel, deep snow achilles heel

this is a common hazard in any deep snow driving. I have seen window type screen put over the grill to keep bugs and leaves from collecting on the front of the radiator, it should work the same way with snow. Watch your coolant level, sometimes even getting hot, without overheating, can compromise ...

Little 1984 Tercel, deep snow achilles heel

Most of the time when I drive in the snow, I am not generally plowing through it. Now, I am aware that the car is low and I had even got stuck once high- centering the car, but I learned something else that I just encountered that is critical and I am glad that I did. Yesterday, our work was cancell...

Looking to find spring to accellator cable

I am looking for this spring pictures.
It's on the rusty side and I'd like to replace it. I believe it is to the accellator cable. Where can I find a replacement? 84 Tercel. Image

Re: The view out my office window and commute

Wow, that's beautiful. I'm very jealous of your snow too, we got a tiny bit mixed with rain yesterday and that's been it so far this year. What kind of business do you work at to have such a great view? I put in many years to have an office with several windows. I can't say, but it's a thankless jo...

Re: Original equipment rear shock repair on 1984 Terc

$400 for a good running Tercel4wd, that is a very rare and outstanding purchase. nice to see it getting the care it should get. it does not need much to keep it running almost indefinitely. I drove a "rescue" Tercel4wd from Texas to Seattle that had all the shocks and struts completely go...

Thanks. I may paint the raised letters on the valve cover, red.

Original equipment rear shock repair on 1984 Terc

The saga of my poor little car. I picked it up used some 12 years ago from a seasonal employee going back to Brazil. It was a last minute sale as he was leaving the country. I picked it up for $400 with 141k on it. I immediately replaced the timing belt when I got it. That was about it. It was used ...

Re: No high beams when high beam switch is pulled

This specific '84 Tercel played second fiddle to my more powerful '85 and little attention was paid to her. When my 85 rusted out, I sold it. The 84 is a manual transmission and is actually better suited to the dangerous icy mountain roads. I don't think I ever had high beams before since I owned he...

Re: No high beams when high beam switch is pulled

I bought new bulbs. I figured it was time and I will work my way backward if that isn't the issue. Thanks
